Roger that. On my way to the autoparts store for carb cleaner. I checked the basic timing. Moved motor to TDC, distributor points to #1. Will try carb cleaner method and post again.

thanks!

your injectors are clogged. Pull a fuel rail and look.

CIS is a hassle, mostly because no one understands them well. One thing they really don't like is to be left sitting for a long time without being run. At this point, I wouldn't mess with the CIS too much. If you ahve a can of carb cleaner, remove the air inlet housing to the CIS, and spritz the carb cleaner in the damper area while someone cranks the engine. It should fire some, and stumble showing that you have properly timed spark.

If it's been sitting a while, you'll have to do some repair work on the CIS head that is beyond the scope of Rennlist forum. If you locate an injector line, and remove the end at the injector we can test if you are getting fuel out to the injector nozzle. The warm up regulator, injector head, fuel pump and lines all affect how the system runs. once the injector line is off the nozzle, put the line in a baby food jar and turn on the key, then push the damper plate away from the stop briefly. You should get a significant spooge of fuel into the baby food jar.

Let us know how that goes with the carb cleaner first. You can run the car a bit on carb cleaner to see if the FI unit will take over and begin providing fuel, but it's a hassle, and you may get a backfire by using the carb cleaner to run the engine.

ooohhhhhhh my bad... I forgot.. no injectors huh.

Well actually there are injectors with the CIS. and they can get clogged up.
McKinney is not to far for us to go help. Next weekend is out monthly GTG in Bartonville. We could trailor the car up to my place or Rodger's and have a whack at it. I have a trailor if you need it.

definitely fuel delivery!!! two sprays of Berryman's go-juice and it fires and runs. Now to pull an injector hose and see if i have fuel post-rail.

[btw, if anyone in the dfw metroplex needs baby-food jars, my 7month old gigantor son is willing to donate]

just so everyone knows, the verdict is still out whether this is a euro model or not [or some bastard model thereof]. There is *NO* engine stamp to indicate which powerplant I have. Plots thickens, I have *some* options that were euro-only that year, and others that are US. I have a small indication that this is a euro via the original owner's import docs....

Looks like a fuel rail in his avatar. Between the air hose on the bottom and the spider. I'm L-jet stupid, so I'm gonna shut up now. However, the fuel injectors could be clogged, fur sure.

The fuel rail in your avatar is a give-away that it's a US version. If the VIN has ZZZ in it, the chassis may be euro, but the engine is US.

Get a fire extiquisher, and when you have the plug off the front of the fuel rail, be careful of the little ball that will fall out. You need that ball! If you have fuel in the rail while the engine cranks, then get new injectors and a filter from Roger.

I'm shutting up now.
