Any chance the stealership blew it up and replaced it with one from Germany? They might have changed the mileage to show correcly, but it's of a version that doesn't like to revert to Eng?
Just a SWAG!

Dean,
On my car it's not pull and hold the stalk for several seconds, instead it's pull twice within one second. So two quick pulls and release.
Allen is correct just solder the wire, but for future reference all of the wiring connectors and corresponding pins are in the 944 manual in PET.
Good luck getting it switched over to english.

Jim-
The "double click" is just to change between US/Metric. It does not change the language.
Dean-
Manual sent, but there is no indication for changing the language.

??? whats odd too is the carfax showed mileage in Feb of 02 as 82807 miles...then the dearlership works on it and 4 1/2 months later the mileage is 138754 miles. NO WAY the car was driven 56000 in that time. The mileage was CHANGED from miles to kilometers and no one made a note of it. I have the records from the dealership. The shift indicator was not working in the dash and was repaired on july 16 2002.
