Sean just to remind you (as you say we lose perspective on our own cars) ... the belt ran fine for years and now it's slack.... it's not the rubber that's letting go ... Tightening it will just move the already-stressed part deeper down the abyss ...

Lucky to say the least... sure your wife says its a sign from above that you should pay more attention to her.

Wondering when you guys were going to do tech day and swap out tb/wp.

Back to work and summer is over so life returns to normal...... sounds crazy but true.

Wife is headed to IN for weekend so if you need an extra set of hands let me know. Got koozies will travel!

Sean,

You have some type of 928 Spider Sense about you man!
Now the ultimate question is, did you tell her you re-wired Stretch's entire car??!!

All the time in the world to work on other folks cars. Then BRAG about it, repeatedly, WITH PICTURES, in a place that missus r is known to frequent. Advice:>> Make an appointment with your shrink. Make three appointments. Plead insanity, that always works. Just be sure to get the belt thing fixed before that first appointment, so at least she can drive over and laugh at you in the loony bin.

By now you must be fairly adept at getting the front of the motor apart. You have a great parts source pretty handy, friends and family who are willing to lend support, moral or otherwise, and a nice long weekend coming up. Get the weather to cool a bit, and things would be close to perfect. I'd come over and help, but I'll be stuck just a few or several hours west of you. You'll be better off with the family and friends though-- I'd drink all your diet Pepsi. Have fun!

As usual, sage advice.

I've canceled my own cars work for this weekend and am going to do her TB/WP starting Friday night, or sooner. I'm going to go ahead and do her MM's too. Then I'll set some time aside for mine.

Momma has to come first.

After the gathering on Saturday, anyone who wants can swing by my place to lend a hand or just drink some beer.

I could be accurately quoted: "Whenever SHE isn't happy, I'm not happy."

Note also that this is a far cry from "whenever she's happy, I'm happy!", a very non-exclusive situation at best. This is also why mrs dr bob would rather drive a 4-runner and have it serviced --exclusively-- at the dealer. Of course, when I threatened to buy a Lexus (with her 'permission' of course...) she wanted to pick the colors since she would be driving it. I'm not a real 4-runner fan so no Lexus 600 yet.

Be happy that Angela is OK with a 928 as a DD. K doesn't have the patience. You are very blessed!

Angela,

You sure take a lot of pictures in the garage, does Sean ever let you in the house???

Sorry I could not resist. BTW, I think Stretch owes you a nice dinner as you gave up your slot in the garage for the last how many weeks??!!

Правда!

Where is the belt riding on the gears?

I'm guessing towards the rear? IE >3mm from the front?

Is no good, comrade.

Worn tensioner arm bushings, bent shoulder bolt, worn tensioner pulley bearing, or all of the above.

Yup, I've got a nice pile of everything to replace on it. And add the A/C compressor is going out on it now too. I'm going to be a busy boy this weekend.

Hope you have a compressor. I HATE working without air.

Heh, I've got A/C in the garage, working in it is all good. Now driving it will be another issue.
