Rob,

It was a little over a half inch or pretty soft foam in the pre GTS cars and that is the stuff that just FALLS APART, the GTS's have a MUCH denser and actually shaped foam that conforms quite well to the spare and really looks like it will hold up over the long run. It is a nice gray color too vs. the nasty black backed tan foam of the early cars...YUCK!

Check it out if you can Rob and keep us posted!

I like this product alot! I had mine out yesterday and couldn't believe how badly they smell. Just ordered a set and hood insulation too.

Thanks!

My 1991 also seems to have this foam - it is grey, quite dense, shaped, and must be kept absolutely dry to avoid the 928 smell.

Hey Rob:

Spoke with you about a month ago regarding interior work I'm planning for the 928. My '88 is an AT. I noticed when I'm driving, the sides of the console get very very warm almost hot. Is there a heat shield/insulation that goes under and/or around the sides of the console?

I've researched the threads and there is a lot of information regarding heat emitting from this area of the car and that in many cases the insulation rotted out or have been removed and not reinstalled by mechanics. Just an idea for another product to add to your ever growing arsenal.

I missed your last Rennlist sale on a carpet set. When I start my interior project, I'll need the carpets, insulation/heat shields and full restoration of the front and rear seats plus the rear AC. I was able to secure a dash and pod. Waiting for things to cool off here before I start. TTYL
