Ross stopped by here on his way to Provo. We had a nice visit and he had a tour of the shop and all my other stuff. He also got to see my neighbour Gerry's plastics roto-molding shop and his 928s too.
I think he got his start to Provo about 4pm. He might make Boise, or Twin Falls if he is into self punishment.

Ross drove down the gravel road to your place on his GSXR? Wow. He's more skilled than I thought.

I gotta drive my wifey up to the SLC airport around noon - she's flying down to Dallas for a few days.
That will put me back in Provo around 1:30-ish. I'm supposed to be at a meeting in the hospital at 3:00 - 4:30, but I might be able to slip out of that if you get here that early.
Other than that, I'm free.

Sounds like a plan, I am up a little late tonight so depending on what time I wake up will determine what time I get there, I would bet later in the afternoon though.
On another note, I am going to have to spend what limited funds I have left on a tent, I can't keep staying in hotels or I'm going to run out of money in a couple days.
I rushed out of my hotel this morning because Louie and his buddy were in a hurry, as a result, I left my laptop charger in the room so I am not going to be able to post updates for much longer...

Hopefully you'll be able to connect with more rennlisters on the way, and be abel to stay with them. It's cheaper and more fun that way.

Assuming you see this.....
What kind of prices are you paying for the hotel rooms? You could let us know the next destination for sleepy and one of us could jump on the "last minute" hotel booking sites and score a cheaper room.
Just a thought.

Ross:
On my first trip across the country I used a super cheap plastic tube tent and a long nylon rope. You know, just a tube of plastic sheet. Of course, I needed 2 trees nearby or a tree (or picnic table) and my motorcycle to use it. In good weather I just used it as a ground cloth and slept on top of it in my sleeping bag. I stayed mostly in state and national parks. Occasionally in KOA or similar campground/trailer parks. Most times I paid very, very little. Or sometimes I paid nothing if I arrived after the park ranger had gone home and left before he/she arrived in the morning. In the parks I met a lot of nice people who shared food and campsite space. Fresh bass from Flathead Lake outside of Glacier National Park was awfully good. I don't think I stayed in a motel for even one night. My other goal was to avoid the Interstates, taking 2-lane backroads as much as possible, but I had 3 weeks to go 2400 miles as the crow flies.
Anyway, I saw you mention getting a tent. It doesn't need to be expensive or high-tech campgear to do what you need.

What Bill said. If you already have a sleeping bag and you really want a tent, see if you can find a small one or two person tent. Something just big enough to fit in and keep the bugs out.

Anyone hear from Ross?
I was expecting him to spend the night at my house. It's almost 7:30 local time. He coulda made it from Boise to Provo twice by now...
