What 'glue' should be used to fasten the trim around the windshield?
Its coming off on the lower drivers side.
TIA

The black metal trim on the outside? It's held on by spring clips. Remove it and tighten the clip gaps a bit and see if that helps keep it inplace.

Yes Bill's right.....try not using any glue.....the spring clips can usually be retensioned so they can secure the trim just fine...and if not they are cheap to get and an easy fix. Just go slow....Good Luck!

No need for pic............I found the clip but it wouldn't hold at the lower side; I 'extended' the clip and moved it further up and presto.............thx.

Glad it worked out for you....cheap easy fixes without glue or duct tape are the best! Enjoy your ride looks great!!!

Reviving an old thread:
I'm getting my windshield replaced as it has cracked, however a previous owner had the windshield out and glued the trim on with urethane. Safelite doesn't want to do the work on it unless I get new trim as it barely budges - in fact the bit that they did get to move bent a bit. My insurance won't cover new trim as it isn't really part of the damage to the windshield so either I get new/used trim or find some way of getting the trim off myself without destroying it. Even then, who knows what's under it!

My Safelite guy actually brought new trim along with him when he replaced my windshield, no extra charge (at least to me), simply because he thought it might bend when he removed the old stuff (he was right). He was a former 928 owner though...how lucky did I get??

lucky enough to play the lottery and win! That is astonishing that he did that

FWIW the top strip will usually get bent when its removed even when using a L shaped lever to lift the metal.
The side trims are held on with 3 or 4 plastic U shaped clips ,
try using a paint stick and tap on the edge of the trim .
NOTE If an adhesive has been used then a heat gun should be used to soften the glue before removal is tried
