Matt,
If the leak is coming from the TC vent as you call it (looks like a grate), then dropping the pan is not going to help. I would first check the TC drain seal. If this is not it, it is most likely the TC seals. No way to change them except to drop the transmission.

Thanks I have the drain seal and rubber plug coming just in case. I really really hope it is not the actual gasket! I haven't been able to get under the car to take a good look yet.
