WOULD THESE RIMS AND OFFSET FIT MY 91 928s4
Knowing this offset is different than factory - HOW WOULD THEY LOOK ON??? wider or more narrow- never could understand that offset thing.

Parts numbers: Front - 996 362 124 00 - 55mm Offset

Please read thru the New Visitor...FAQ topic posted at the top of this forum.
There is a ton of wheel-related technical information contained there.

Well, skinny is relative I guess. 7" and 8" wide are the stock flat disc wheel widths... I have seen an S4 w/ Boxster wheels on it...looked better than the flats IMHO... I prefer the newer Carrera III's though! They are SUPER looking and fit like a charm.

they will fit just fine, you can add spacers to the rear and give it that much wider stance.
I've got them on both of our S4's, mine with 17mm spacers and on the wifes she has 21mm.

Agreed they will fit fine, BUT I think a 7" wheel is to narrow for an S4. Porsche went to a 7.5" wheel for the S4 for a reason. Also they only use a 205 tire on any 7" rim. The S4 is just to heavy for a 205 and many have rolled the 225 tire right off a 7" rim. If you check the specs on just about every 225 tire the minimum wheel width is 7". Better safe than sorry, go with a minimum of 7.5" rim or even wider if possible.

Jim,
I agree w/ you wider is better up front, but Porsche did use 7" rims on the front of the 928's for a LONG TIME! 225 tires to be sure but 7" rim. I would say a good offset in a 9" rim would be PERFECT up front on a 928 w/ a 10" out back... Still a bit of stagger, but the car would understeer less and the grip would be phenomenal! It would sure look SWEET TOO! Is anyone doing that size??? 9's and 10's on a 928?

Please tell me about all those people rolling their 225 tires off their 7" rim.
Factory 928 front rims. 16" x 7"
Factory spec tires. 225/50/16
I'm confused here, Jim.
I know you don't like to drive under 100 mph.

Jim,
Not true, the S4's have 7" front rims... The Club Sport had the widest wheels though w/ 8" front, and 9" rear. The '89 GT had the same (known as the Club Sport wheel generally) and then for 90/91 the GT got the 7.5" front and 9" rear (that is why the D90 wheels are the second most sought after 928 wheel that is 16" diameter, they used to be cheap even!)
The flat dish S4 wheels (ALL MY's) were 7" fronts.
I have NEVER heard of anyone rolling a 225 tire off a 7" rim... I have pressed my car pretty hard and never done anything even close to that. Wider is better though!

What was the tire PRESSURES on those 2 928's that rolled their front tires?
I've neglectedly driven on sub 20 lbs of air and the tires did NOT look low.
Factory S4's came with 7" fronts. All pre-S4's had 7" all around.
I'm blaming operator error before factory specification error till proven otherwise.
Those didn't happen to be 5-speed 928's that Rog had let air out of the tires to slow them down, were they.

Old news, but I have 9.5"x18 front and 10"x18 rear with offsets of 68 and 52. This lets me run a 265/35/18 front and rear, I may go with a 275 on the rear next time. No rolled fenders and no rubbing. No spacers on the rear either.
p.s. I would not recommend those 7" and 9" 911 wheels. The skinny front will push and is just undersized for the weight of our front engined 928s.
