Default Swapping 8 way seat for a 6 way Seat; Anyone been there?

Hey guys. My drivers side 6 Way Powered seat on the 84 is torn up pretty good, I was going to re-cover but found a great deal on a 8 Way Powered drivers seat, same color. I know they are a drop in and the bolts should line up, but just wondering about the connection side of things. I have not pulled the seat out of the car, so I am just hoping someone has been there and done that, so I can get a headstart on what the connections will look like. I am sure this will become obvious once the seat is pulled, but just looking for some insight before I go there:

1. Is this the master connector for all things? Or is this the Mirror position control?

2. Is this the 2 prong master connector? Power and ground? It seems like this connector is tied into the main computer on bottom and also the wire harness from the backrest.

3. Coming from seat belt, I assume there is a 2 prong connector on the floor this will attach to.

4. Not sure about this one?

And lastly are there any good methods or products for cleaning leather (other then the obvious), for maybe finer cleaning as in getting dirt that is worn into the grain out?

Thanks guys.

Need more info - when you say 8-way & 6 way what do you mean - I'm unaware of 6 way?

6 way = what?

8 way = up/down front; For/aft whole seat; up/down back, angle inc./dec. backrest

12 way = up/down front; For/aft whole seat; up/down back, angle inc./dec. backrest; up/down lumbar; in/out lumbar

Also do you have memory seats/mirrors? Are the new seats also memory? - if not you will lose seat and mirror memory with the swap.

Electrically it should work otherwise - but not quite sure what you are doing... Are the pictures the new seast or the old.. these do not look like '84 seats were they swapped already?

Thanks for chiming in Alan.

By 6 Way, I meant 6 adjustment buttons, 3 sets of 2 button on a panel.
By 8 Way, I meant 8 adjustment buttons, 2 panels with 4 arrows on each button.

The current seats a re original as far as I know on the 84, and they are not memory seats or mirrors.

The seat you are looking at is the new seat that is going in.

Connector number one is the master connector - if you open the top of it pins 1 and 2 (red and brown) are the main power cables. Apply power to these and the seats should work fine! The majority of the other cables in the large connector all relate to the seat memory. In theory just connect and go!

Connector number 2 I think is for seat heater element. Not fitted on my own car so obsolete.

Connector number 3 is as you guessed for seatbelt warning light. If fitted the 2 way connector is under the carpets in front of rear seats.

The other big connectors just connect the rear seat motors and heat if fitted to the seat base.

As for cleaning your seats up I used motorcycle leather cleaner followed by this:

Seat installed!!!!

The later S4 seat is a perfect fit and I might add more comfortable then OB seat!

The 14 pin on the newer S4 seat will need to be modified as the OB wiring will only offer hot and ground. Pin 1 and 2 (RED/BROWN) on the S4's 14 pin connector will need to be connected to the 2 pin wiring plug on the OB, that will supply power to the seats motors. The other functions of memory and heat will not be used.
