I read that article before getting my first 928, a '78 5 speed in '92...

I love the 8-series BMWs and they are a bit more lux-biased than a 928. But like a 928 they will pull like a train, born for cross-continent travel at 100mph+ speeds. However I think the driver's seat has something like 12 separate motors...and it's one of the simpler systems on the car. Maintenance is extremely high, can make a 928 seem cheap. Best bargain if you can find one, is a good early 850 5sp. But what do I know, I bought a 928.

Joe,

Before you buy that '91 928 have someone here look at it and then have a PPI done by a recommended 928-experienced shop or a Porsche dealer (at least that).

If not, I guarantee you'll have a few surprises on that car when it is delivered (if it is the one you sent me pics of). It's not bad looking car, but cover your bases anyway.

No BMW 840-850 experience here, but if what Sterling says is correct, I'd beware of them.

well someone is going to say it sooner or later, sign up and get the rennlist membership,

As well even though you have purchased it, have a PPI done, as I stated in my first post, and others have echoed.

CONGRATS!

Try Specialist or International for the Mats, they sell Loyd Mats and provide a perfect color match.

Wheels and tires, well there are tons of thoughts and options on that

Congratulations! I don't think you'll regret your choice - but then again we all are biased here.

One thinig you get with 928 ownership is an awesome community of enthusiasts, most of whom hang out here. If you have a question, you find the answer through a search, or get it here within hours, or sometimes even within a few minutes.

Congrats! Have the timing belt changed if there is any doubt about its history. Broken belt on your engine = $5000 +/-.

Depends what you are looking 4. I have a 03 530i drives great no problems.... and a 8 928 euro spec.... both are different cars not even in the same ball park! get the 928 if you want to bang thru the gears on the open road .... or get the BMW if you want to bang prostitutes in the back of you local walmart store!
