Default cylinder question

I did a search about 928 cylinders but did not come up with the info I was looking for. The question is: are 928 cylinders truely unlined bare aluminum? I have read that Porsche used high silicon aluminum to cast the block and then went to an etching proccess that exposedt he hard silicon. Also I thought I read that Porsche was using a Nikisal process to plate the cylinders. What is the deal?

thanks

Sam

Yes but Wally, I don't think it worked out to well for the Vega. I seem to remember a recall or two.

Yeah, just like a Chevy Vega, except Porsche followed the recommendations on cool down and good old Chebby said screw the cool down process, just pump them out as fast as you can.
