Default New Member saying Hi

Just wanted to say Hi from Scotland - I have been reading the forum for a while now and have been really impressed with all the technical help and knowledge available.
It has been invaluable to me in working through the list of jobs to do on my not to long ago aquired 86 Euro. Nearly there now - motor mounts and teering rack bushes next.

Cheers
Jay

Welcome Jay.

Nice looking shark. I'm very fond of the euro models.

I'm going to have to get a map out to look at the Isle of Skye.

Welcome to Rennlist and nice shark! Auto or 5spd and any other mods?

Would love to visit Scotland some day although I fear I won't remember much!

Welcome to the shark family. Nice looking '86 - I like the older body style. Lots of good info/writeups on doing motor mounts - you're in good hands! Let us know how it goes!

Hi jay;

Just finished the MM/OPG and PS Rack this Spring. Its a fair amount of "heavy lifting". Research all the while-you-are-in-there work that should be done during that effort. Its no fun having to go back. That should include cleaning all ground connections down there, tightening hose clamps, replacing severely used hoses. I should mention that if your PS rack has been leaking, you probably have as big a mess down there as I did and cleaning various encrusted bits adds 30% more time. Not to mention the interim trips to the parts store for supplies. Try to have brake cleaner and engine cleaner solvents on hand to start. Extra hose clamps, cable ties of various sizes too.

OH......while you have the wheels off, pull the skirt under the right front wheel arch and take a look at the vapor canister circuit (Included in ROW cars?). Even if the Y connector isn't broken, pull a few hoses off the canister and make sure carbon doesn't spill out. If so, get the new canister on order and be prepared that the existing hoses do not fit exactly on the new canister as on the old. You will need some adapter hose fittings. Figure that out if possible, before you settle into the labor portion.

Good luck!

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Afshin - it's an auto with sunroof and other than the 18" wheels and a custom stainless exhaust system is completely stock.

Sharknoob - Interior is black / black - generally good but rear 3/4 panels are a little warped and usual wear on drivers seat bolster.

Michael - thanks for the tips - no signs of any leaks so hopefully should be pretty clean down there! The ROW cars are not fitted with the vapour cannister so no worries there.

Hacker - I'll see what I can do but don't hold your breath !!!!

cheers
Jay
