I had heard that it's finally turning around, which locations are still dropping?

At most we are seeing a pause in the drop. Many would be sellers have been holding off, hoping for a recovery and when those homes hit the market along with the next wave of foreclosures (Google Alt-A loans for a preview) at the same time the credit markets are tightening (making it very hard for buyers to find financing) and the outlook is not pretty. Of course I could be wrong (and hope I am) but I fear that I am not.

yep. nearly every block in palmdale has more for sale signs than parked cars now. kinda spooky. but the beach areas seem to hold on pretty well. most of those owners have more $$/better credit and got nice low interest, fixed loans long ago. ours is at 5 3/4 fixed. can't beat that w/a stick.

it didn't take long to rebound in the late 90's. but there are a lot more factors in play this time. like energy prices and bank failures. apts are hot.

Brian,
Good lock on both aspects, but I think you're going to need more than luck on the car. I hope I'm wrong.

Iceman,

I hate to see you sell your 928 soul to some devil. If you do, I hope you quickly get seller's remose and buy another shark soon. I'd miss you on this forum. Someone has to police us clowns.

Brian,

To get the most bang for the buck I would suggest advertising on ebay and autotrader. Make sure you include full details about the concours wins and mention that trophies are included (include a picture), this will definitely weed out the buyers that are interested in a cheap purchase. I've found that the buyers looking for a deal will nitpick and if they know it's a show winning car you can end the discussion quickly and often times they will say "I don't want to waste your time, this car is really nice but too much for me" I did this with my 500E and found two buyers willing to pay a reasonable value for trhe car. As many will say, to get the premium the car is worth you may have to wait a month to find the right buyer.

Good luck with the home purchase and the sale of the shark.

Selling sharky would make my life a shade easier in the next couple months, but I'm sure I would miss Sharky... Its a dilemma..... At this point I really don't want to seriously advertise....

The good news about the new house is that will become the shark garage.....and if sharky doesn't sell hopefully my next 5 speed will reside there too.... (Rich you listening) :>)

For as much sense as it doesn't make to buy yet another 928 to make a track beast...I STILL WANT TOO...its just too cool....but I never was very good at that common sense thing anyway

Brian I'm starting to think that your wife is logging in under your name and making attempts to sell the car.

You have a good eye.....that one fell off......I remember cleaning off the sticky mark for concours....so it was there...BUT the bumper still has its sticker...& I can't think of how the fender would get ruined but not the door or front bumper?

Brian, I would have to disagree with people saying you will need luck to sell that car. It is super-nice and I wouldn't take a cent less than 16k. Well worth it IMO, and if I didn't already have 4 of these yours would be on my mind.
