lower hatch receiver cup
After phutzing around for 3 hours this morning trying to fix my hatch squeek, I just realized that my lower hatch receiver is missing the the yellow plastic/rubber cup show in this photo:
Anyone have one laying around they no longer need? I'm not asking for a freebie. Let me know what you want for it.
I'll buy a new receiver if I have to, but I'd rather spend the hundred bucks on something else.
Thanks!

I broke down and bought a new one from Roger after mine fell completely apart. To my surprise, the yellow thing is actually white and rubbery, not brown and crumbly.
No squeaks, and the hatch release works again!

So, replacing the lower hatch receiver may not be the cure, but for me it was killing two birds with one stone.

One thing is certain , without the opaque rubber liner the hatch release is not going to work.... and the hatch is not LOCKED ...I lost a set of wheels out of the old very brown 1980 when someone lifted up the rear lid and helped them self to the rims !!

You can also put the two pieces of teflon tape on the hatch where it contacts the rubber bumpers half way up the hatch opening...that helps stop squeaks

Lower hatch Receiver 77 to 83 is $98.90 - 84 to 95 is $107.95.

I replaced mine but the hatch still does not pop... It was popping fine till the plastic cup disintegrated... I probably need to adjust something, but try sitting down behind your car and without getting up look back there and do anything... Yea, NOT gonna happen!
