Actually Dan you dont have to pull the flywheel to remove the pilot bearing.

I have some pictures that could be posted as basis for comments. Give me a day or so.

All above advice is useful. Especially research to have right parts on hand. I replace all hydraulics and all wear parts.

I was able to clean-up the surface of the flywheel in-situ using a very flat wetstone.

You're right, I was thinking of the rear main seal as I typed that, duh! But yeah, when you get in there you might want to replace that too since almost all the labor to do it has been done already.
