Pix pix pix, I need to make one this weekend for an employee event. For what I have in mind it sounds too difficult and I may end up making something else.

We usually use the traditional go-fast wedge shape. Ugly but fast. Last time the decoration consisted of black paint and YOU LOSE written across the front edge in red. Of course, the kids knocked the wheels and messed up the alignment, so he didn't defend his trophy.

There was a great thread on OT not that long ago. Some of the dad's are SERIOUS. It has some good tips on how to make a fast car.

This is mine. I put about 20 min in it so far. Its amazing what you can do with the right tools. If I can get another piece of block I may make a wing for it :-). The final coating will be a nice shiney silver metallic powder coat finish with a clear coat.

#1..spent lots of time carving and sanding, including a spoiler. Performed terribly.
#2..built it in 2 hours in the classic wedge shape. Won 1st place.
#3.."open" derby @ work...no rules except weight limit..I made it motorized and remoted controlled. Finished 2nd to a car made in the engineering studio.
#4..tried the wedge shape again, but alignment was ruined before race.
We stopped trying to look good...and concentrate on fast instead.
