Default New Product: 2 new SC kits from 928 Motorsports

Very shortly after the introduction of our SC kit for the 85-86 928, we began work on the 86.5 to 95 928 kit. It has taken 10 months to announce it because we were tweaking the setup until it was "just right" and we wanted a lot of highway time and street beating on it.

I have installed 3 of them now, and been driving my own for more than 3 months. Hot starts, cold starts, highway cruising, beating the "*#!@" out of it giving friends and customers rides, you-name-it. The installation is rock-solid with no tuning or maintenance issues whatsoever.

We are very pleased to announce these kits as perhaps the best we have ever designed. Their performance is right on par with other 32v kits for this model, and the curb appeal when you open the hood is stunning. The installation is straight-forward and, again, requires no engine disassembly.

There is a lot of info on our webpage that I will not duplicate here.

For detailed information on the Stage 1 kit click here:
http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/32v_stage1.php

For detailed information on the Stage 2 kit click here:
http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/32v_stage2.php

As a bonus, our Stage 2 kit includes a new set of 8 spark plugs and a new set of 24 pound injectors. Just getting you started on the right foot with all-new parts. The Stage 1 kit includes a free set of plugs, too, but not the injectors.

I look forward to your questions, I am going to be in the shop a lot this week and not checking Rennlist more than 1X a day or so. So if I do not answer your question right away, I will soon.

Here are some pictures of the Stage 2 kit installed:

Clean install. Good call on the plugs. I know someone will ask, so I might as well beat them to the punch... Where's the TQ curve?

Assuming you add a chart with the torque curve, I would change the bottom value to RPM versus Speed or they will not overlay correclty, ends up looking funny.

Nice install, good job!!

Another "someone will eventually ask" question:
Curious, where on the manifold are you measuring boost? Is they dyno hooked up to log this with the power curves?

Carl - that looks very nice - only 2 things that stand out to me. Isn't there a better way to handle the intrusion of the crossbrace in the intercooler feed...? is an oval pipe transition an option vs the rubber 'squish'. The intercooler radiator plumbing looks like it needs an integrated 'U' bend for the left side to tidy it up... (just like the top - nice)

Both cosmetic only issues - the filter looks great - performance looks good, the polished bracket & SC looks good (option?)

Oh one other thing - is the intake pipe as close to the engine jump post as it looks? - It looks like relocating the jump post a little would be a good idea if it is (thats actually not so hard to do...).

Still - all small nits - It is a very clean looking install

Isn't there a better way to handle the intrusion of the crossbrace in the intercooler feed...? is an oval pipe transition an option vs the rubber 'squish'. The rubber hose under the crossbrace is the best way we can think of to allow the engine to rock on its engine mounts and not rattle or dent a hardpipe. Plus - different owner's motor mounts are in different states of repair... this handles that variable (and height). No significant loss of CFM here - as the hose is pushed down it widens in the same amount. It creates a very smooth transition, round-to-oval-back-to-round again.

The "U" at top left of heat exchange in the picture - YES, I am still looking for that part. I think I'll just end up using a molded rubber U instead of a hard nipple.

so you are carrying your own kit instead of Tims?
No, not instead of, in addition to. If you look at my website you will see they are both there side by side.

Where's the TQ curve?
I carried a USB jump drive with me to the dyno, and instead of emailing me the charts, we just dumped all the runs onto the jump drive before I left. I have been all over WinPEP and I cannot find the button to display the torque curve.
I think I'll call the dyno and have them email them to me the old way. I always got the torque curve before when we did that.

Rather awesome!

BTW, I like the way you mounted and clocked the SC.

Here are the charts with both HP and Torque and the bottom graph changed to reflect RPM, not road speed.

These cars (a 1987 S4 5-speed wearing our Stage 1 kit, and a 1991 GT wearing our Stage 2 kit) will both be on display in our tent at Road America this Labor Day weekend. Come and see them!

It is priced competitively, and with the new injectors and spark plugs we supply in Stage 2, we think a real value for the money.

The prices are here:

86.5 is the same as 85-86 with respect to intake manifold design, cams, and injection/ignition systems?
