13-14 mpg

13-14 mpg
Yes that's what I'm averaging, driving a mix of back roads, stoplights and highways on my way to work each day. This morning I put 15 gallons in the tank with exactly 200 miles on the trip odometer, so the mileage officially sucks. So what? I just wish I had a bigger tank. I had this argument with a co-worker that my old sports car was much cheaper to drive than a brand new Prius and I think I won, even looking at cash flow vs. bottom line. He's got a payment I don't have which completely blows away his 45mpg savings at the pump. When you factor insurance and depreciation, those more than offset my maintenance costs (which have really been minor considering I do my own work). So even though it costs me $60 every 200 miles, I still come out ahead. Oh yeah and my carbon footprint is much smaller because even though my emissions are worse (but still excellent), I didn't go buy some disposable crapcan that sucked down 4 times the resources to build and will eat space in a landfill while my car is still cruising the highways.

Tom:
You're right about the mileage improving under 90. I can get 22 without much effort if I stay under 100. But what a drag! May as well buy a Prius. And I have a 2.2 rear end.

gotta admit, after seeing "Extreme Factories" on Discovery last night - those aluminum framed Z06 Vettes w/fact. dry sump and hand built 505 hp motors are looking pretty good all of a sudden. 3.7sec 0-60 aint' shabby w/a full fact. warrenty. and 1.2G's on the skid pad, 6 spd trans and huge 6 piston front brakes make it a pretty potent (albiet ugly) plastic clonemobile.
25mpg highway too!! could just paint a shark on the side and hang a sharktooth from the mirror, lol... maybe I'll come to my senses when my trans is done right, maybe.

Definitely, I get 25 highway no problem with the 2.20 and maybe 19 highway with the GT(S) 2.73.

Actually I think it has gotten worse since I put the wheels on, 200 miles is my worst tank yet. Usually it's more like 230-240 miles. Ok you can have them, but I'll have to apply a gas guzzler tax...how about $5k?

Yep but what fun is that? I think I got around 20mpg on the trip to SITM, but stop and go traffic definitely has its toll on the mileage to work and home. Luckily there are a few open stretches every day where I can actually get into 5th....
