How to identify jetronic??

Default How to identify jetronic??

How do I tell if the jetronic system is L, LH, K, or whatever?

My only identification on the engine is the letters ATR...

K=CIS, continuous injection system or mechanical fuel injection
L=AFI, analog fuel injection using an air flow meter
LH=DFI, digital fuel injection using a mass airflow sensor

CIS will have fuel distributor with hard fuel lines coming out of it:



L-JET will have this (Air Flow Meter) under the air filter housing:


LH will have this (Mass Air Sensor) under air filter housing:

I have under the airfilter, located something that only resembles the CIS. That means the K-jetronic, right. Ok, so next up...how the f.... do i know if its a 4,5L or the 4,7L....
On the oilpan it says : 101.201.9R30 2786.080/02 if that helps any....and as said before, it says ATR where you guys have numbers ID...


The car is currently in the process of getting a new gearbox fitted at Toyparts tuning.

First, look at the top front of the engine to find the M28/XX number stamped into the flat surface on the top of the block.

After you find that, go to www.928gt.com then 928 Tips/Links, then Tech/Specs, then Engine Types.

I tried that, but all it says is ATR. No numbers

yeah im pretty sure it is....But the CAR is 78, and rebuilt to match a S. Engine was replaced in 95 from factory, but have no info...so it MIGHT be 4,5 or 4,7...

There's about 70hp spread between the 4.5 and 4.7 isn't there?
Sounds like a dyno or drag strip would give you the answer without having to open up the motor.

Yes...I am thinking about dyno. And then supercharge it later on.
Know of any kits to recommend?

For CIS, there's only one turnkey kit out there.

Measure the outside diameter of the alloy intake runners .....my guess is possibly the block was bored to a 4.7 .... 97 mm S piston BUT odds are the rest of the engine cams ,valves ,heads, intake is still original 4.5 none S .

ATR is a factory replacement engine, I have read somewhere here.

Hear hear- This is what Ive been told. Now what does that mean?lol......which engine do I have, and what superchargerkit would be appropriate for this engine..,.this is why its important to figure out. SORRY GUYS FOR THE CONSTANT NAGGING AND ASKING, AND BAD ENGLISH:-)


Here is a pic of whats under the aitfilterbox.

But I was told this engine is replaced mid-90`s, so it is not the same that was in the 78.
