if you have the unit out of the car... there is only two allen bolts holding the pump to the unit.... easy to unscrew and test as a seperate unit... be careful as my wirig colours did not match the diagram

Good to know. I actually havent looked at it closely but will give it a shot. I should then be able to just put power to it and see if it works or not

Ryan:

When I tested my unit, the pump would run but it just wouldn't build any pressure. I checked that all the lines were clear but it still would not build pressure. I gave up and had it rebuilt.

i recall this pump running before but wouldnt build pressure. But could that not be a problem with something other then the electric motor or pump itself?

I will hold off until i put power to the thing and then see where i stand

pump not building pressure is symptomatic of pump failure , these units are built to such close tolerance that there is little that can be done to rebuild them , good luck on the rebuilt units , the original manufacturer (ATE I think) in Germany would need to specify the toleraences for any reliability , thoroughly reseached this path before buying a new unit unit from Porsche here in Australia 2 years ago , however the unit cost $3K so at that price a rebuilt one with for warranty for $1k is certainly worth a look .
