Just started looking and lubing some of the parts under the dash and found my scuff plate was sticking out in the back, making it hard to go to full throttle. Now I just need to move under the hood and lube those connections up.

Even in neutral, you're still spinning the big ol' torque converter, filled with gallons of 30W oil, plus the trans oil pump.

Ah! That makes sense, thanks.

Ken, I'll try to get a pic of that rear seat belt bolt under the rear of the lift bar this week. It's still in the air for the intake refresh so I haven't had a chance to move it and get the pic.

stolarzj,
Sounds like you're on your way...

Figured I'd update with what seems to be the final fix. After lubing the cables up it seemed to be better, but it was still stiff, and seem kind of weak on power off the line. I tightened the transmission linkage cable up a little and the shifts were a little better and off the line was better. Still didn't seem right, then I found a article about adjusting this cable and it talked about the throttle cable also. It said to remove it off the ball (85-86 mechanism) and if the cable stretches past the ball it needs to be shortened up. I did this and now the gas pedal is much looser and it feels like I gained 200 hp, actually chirping into gear now. I finally got to experience the 928, up until now it felt greatly underpowered compared to my 968.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. When I first got mine there was so much play in the shifting that I was really disappointed (never drove any other 928s) but once all the parts were replaced it really jumps out when you put the pedal down and shifts like butter.

Congratulations!

When I drove the 21k mile S4 yesterday, the first thing I noticed was that the pedal did not need nearly as much pressure as on my S4 (same year, 16 VINs difference between the cars).

I would love my car to feel that way...

Nicole you might try adding some lube to all of the cables and the ***** and linkages, you may just a few sprays away from an easier throttle.
Also check the cables where they go into the throttle quadrant for a possible kink and also lube the wheel under the air cleaner this can somtimes cause a bind

The heavier the foot, the softer the pedal..........

I always thought the little extra effort to do anything with the controls the 928 was done by design, so the car knew you were absolutely sure you wanted to do whatever it was. It's what makes the car feel much bigger and heavier than it is AND what makes it a dream to drive at higher than posted speeds. Not that I would ever drive above posted speeds unless it was an approved closed circuit. A guy can dream though.

This is on the list after the car comes back from surgery.

You NEVER drive faster than the posted limit? In a 928 GTS? That's pretty amazing...
