What about belt tension? Was that ever re-checked? Was the tensioner rebuilt? Lots of questions to be answered..

Got some receipts with car. June 06 and 45,962 for Timing Belt, includes cam belt rollers, tensioner bushings, bearings, roller, 4 other belts, spark plugs, and water pump. Note on the receipt says "Need to Adj timing belt at 58,000." Older receipts show timing belt and pulleys replaced at 33K in 2001. Don't have any receipts for re-tension ever.

RKD,
What was happening when the light came on? Hard acceleration ??
Get a flashlight and look down through the tubes on top of the TB cover and see what the belt looks like.
You may just need a retension. We can do that for you at the GTG.
If you had bought an Auto this would have never happened 8>)

I've been turning airplane wrenches for the past few weeks. Getting ready for the big Oshkosh convention. I'll turn some Porsche wrenches when I get back. I got the plane completely polished this weekend, just going to finish up the belly cleaning and some interior detail next week.

BTW, I'll steal a little thunder and remind everyone in earshot that the following weekend is the mid-summer pool party out west at my place. Bring a smile, and maybe a refreshment.

Light came on just after backing out of parking space. Then again after a normal 1st to 2nd gear change. Took it extra easy keeping revs down 10 miles home and light did not return.

He won't, I'll will be.

Got your message this morning Chuckles. So as I'm having my coffee now, I think we'll have to wait until next weekend on it.

Heading to Rog's soon to work on that '86.

Cheers.

Hi Jim,
Did they actually make any GTS 5 speeds???
So many owners wanted the superior automatic GTS the manual version became an embaressment and was only produced in small quantities to satisfy the "small dick" club.
Nice to be back my friend!

Sorry, Roger. Randy made me type that. Strictly in defense of Jim.

So it's sounding like your shop is a little busy to look at Randy's tired old 5-speed. Please tell me it isn't so; I really need to get rid of him for at least a weekend!

I'm sure we will spend quite a bit of time looking at the car. Now, working on it will be a different matter. Tell Randy it's time he learned how to use a wrench.

Oh my, Sean. You had me excited for a moment until I saw it was a wrench you wanted him to use. I was all for it until then.

Last time I (willingly) let Randy use a wench, sorry, wrench, I had to replace the kitchen sink. His intention was to fix the faucet.

No, if we get a fair price for the 928 it will be because Randy did not learn to use a wrench.
