Default Car wouldn't start - problems with the LH unit

Gents,

Today when I should drive home from work, the shark wouldn't start ????
There was power on the car. All lights in the dashboard where there !
I tried 3 times, then it started
BUT
It had reset all data in board computer ??

Not that this is a disaster in it self, but what actually happened ??

I drove home with no problems at all. I also stopped for some shopping with problems starting afterwards.

The milage "counter" and trip "counter" didn't reset ????

Can any one give me some input
Maybe it's just a bad connection ??
First time I see it.

I would clean the battery connections and the grounds above the fuse panel to make sure that's all good.

Give us more details. WHAT YEAR?! When you say it wouldn't start, what do you mean? It wouldn't turn over or it would start running?

To me, it sounds like probably a sticky relay. Could be one or more of the following relays, Fuel Pump, LH, Ignition.

'90 S4... the digital dash loses its memory when the voltage drops below a certain amount (~10 volts?). I would definitely clean all the grounds on the car and make sure the battery is fully charged. What did your volt-meter show when you turned the ignition key to the ON position before starting?

Thanks for the feedback.

I have, when I received the car, cleaned and tightend the battery connections. Also the relays for the fuelpump was changed.
So this should be OK ?
I will check the grounds. How many ground connections are there to be checked ? or at least the most important so to say !
When I tried to start, the starter was running. Eveything seemed normal, except for fact that the display only showed "minus" all over the digital dash and of course the fact that it didn't start.
I think that all gauges showed correct values including the volt-meter, but I'm not sure.

This morning there was no problems starting

I have to be more "sharp" in my observations, if it happens again
