Default What is this under the dash?

This may seem dumb but I've had the car for 2 years, and it is fully functional (I thought). Yesterday I was giving it a good cleaning and happened across this plug that has been taped off! It belongs on the box that is mounted horizontally right at the bottom of the dash frame.
How can that many things be unplugged and I have not noticed anything not working? This is scary.
Help?

If it's a 1990 or late then it's probably the Tire Pressure Monitoring, it is very typical to bypass these when running aftermarket wheels or lower pressures than is stated on the gas flap.

If you're not restoring the RDK system, why not leave well enough alone? It would seem that dog is sleeping peacefully.

Most likely some pins on that plug are bridged to defeat the RDK. I'd leave it alone, unless you want to re-activate the system.

^^ Heed their warnings^^ unless you have a high tolerance for regularly filling up the tires with air.

Even a small pressure loss will register with the sensors and you will get an anoying light on the dash and a readout saying which tire needs air. It's cool in that it works well and you never have to monitor the tires on your own but it sure is a pain due to sensitivity.

The system also doesn't take into account rises in pressure while driving, at least until you stop and restart the car from what I can tell so far.
