I was thinking it was more that Randy probably just doesn't bother to come into these threads cuz nothing much is going on in here. It's all logistics and planning, and hardly anyone ever gets into a fight like that.

Anthony, I will be happy to take care of the ice thing, and any other thing from the grocery store you may find you need last minute. I'll pick the stuff up just before the end of our visit at TT.

Jon, yes, they do have a wideband O2 sensor that they install right into your exhaust. If you can't have your O2 removed for some reason, they also had a sniffer, which I presume is still available.

Mike/Leslie/Kevin - I'll bring beer too. How's some Paulaner in a small keg? German beer and Porsches - what could be better?

Cool, how are you getting it there?

Just kidding, we'll find a way to secure it. I'll pick you up around 8:00am?

Thanks to everyone who helped set this up. It was very helpful for me, especially since i just made such drastic changes to my car. I was very happy with my #'s, all in all a good day for me (except for getting stuck in the ridiculous traffic on the way there)...

This sign was followed by 5 miles rolling in 1st gear.

Mike, when you are able to upload the video please email it to me. Mine is pretty bad.. i was to busy holding my ears when my wastegate opened .

My favorite quote of the day was in reference to Anthony's GTS.. Jake (dyno operator) asked "So whats the redline on this u-boat?"

Here are a few pictures i took.

Supercharged 928..

Kevin's monster 928..

Anthony's beautiful GTS...

Kevin and my car..

Hey Jon,

It was a good day and although my car had some problems after the intake refurb it's actually possible that there was an issue with their sniffer probe. It turns out EVERYONE that they used that on was either rich or lean. And the ones that were able to use the screw in connector were apparently better. I don't think I'm as lean at the top end as it looked like I was. And Kevin wasn't even able to drive his car after he tuned it according to their sniffer readings (his showed really rich).

I'll get those videos uploaded and get them out in the next few days.

Thanks to everyone, especially Anthony (Cobalt) for having us back to your house for burgers and dogs. It was a great day.

Mike,

Thanks for getting us all together. It was my pleasure to have everyone back.

I hope to see your car up and running properly soon. I am confused by the sniffer too. My C2 seemed to be running lean according to the sniffer which didn't make sense, yet the GTS was looking pretty good, possibly slightly lean but the line was so flat it might have been slightly off without knowing. I think it might be the way they attached the sensor.

I think it was a great day all together. I was very pleased to see 291 bhp/ 280 torque out the C2 and 348 bhp/375.5 torque out of the GTS considering it was 93 degrees for the pulls. We will have to get your car back on the dyno once the issue is resolved. Maybe I'll have to bring the turbo.

BTW that beer really hit the spot.

Hey guys! Wow what a terrific day yesterday. It was great to see everyone.

So Kevin's been cogitating and rethinking things after our discussions last night about possible problems with the sniffer, and after he spent the day going over his car today. He pulled the two week old NGK plugs (BPR6ES) that our local auto parts store cross referenced for us and sold us twice in a row, and found them to be bone white still, even though the AF ratio was 10.1 almost flat across the board, and never got over that level. They should have been black. And there wasn't that much smoke coming out the of the garage. So this doesn't make sense.

The highest hp and torque numbers he got were 344.14 with 331.95 torque, but Jake was running the pulls in 3rd gear because he was afraid of the high speeds it was reaching...almost 170 on the first pull in 4th gear. Jake didn't want to exceed the 170 mph speed rating of the tires and risk a possible blow out. On the other hand, the machine was only registering a high of 155 mph....so could it be that the wheels were slipping just a little on the rollers, too? Another hp killer right there.

Today Kevin put in an old set of the correct WR7DC Bosch spark plugs he had laying around. It's running much better with them, as cruddy as they are, than it did with the NGKs. The NGKs must be too hot. That's also borne out in the fact that the O2 sensor burned out yesterday as he discovered. Check this out:

Since the car wasn't even driveable when we left the shop yesterday, on his supposed "high" numbers, and finding the plugs still being too hot, he's looking forward to going back to the dyno soon.

The whole drama about not having the right plugs is because they have suddenly gotten hard to find in this area. Autozone doesn't carry them anymore, or any of the other big chains like that. I have been using a local parts supplier who seemed to always have them, but he didn't have them anymore either in the past month or two. He has lately been cross referencing to NGK and giving us those instead.

I gave him a call this morning to find out what the heck he was selling us, and it turns out it's the same cross over to NGK whether he searches for the part number for an 85 or 84 US version or just using the WR7DC that I provided him from Porsche specs. He can't search for Euro part numbers, of course. Kevin wants to try a suggestion Tony (toofast928) made yesterday of going with WR6DC as being a slightly cooler plug, since even the stock ones seem a scootch on the hot side, but the parts store said, sorry, don't have them either, but I could sell you...the same NGK number I've been selling you right along. Which makes no sense.

Anyway, it turns out that another branch of this store has a small supply of the stock Bosch plugs left in stock after all, even though there supposedly weren't any around two weeks ago, so I am going to pick them up tomorrow and see if they might also have the 6's to test Tony's theory.

The next time we go, we should definitely pick a much cooler day, too!

Cobalt, I want to thank you very much for having us to your house yesterday. It was such a pleasure to see your lovely home and gardens. And you were a fantastic host!

Ernest and Tony (and AnneMarie, of course!), it was fabulous getting a chance to meet you finally, and Mike, Adam and Jon, always wonderful to see you guys as well!

Cobalt was a great host. And the consummate short order chef.

Forgot which thread it was on but I believe that NGK plug temp numbers run backwards from the Bosch temp numbers.
Cooler Bosch 6 plug is a hotter 6 NGK plug.
I may remember wrong but that little trivia seemed to have stuck in my brain.

Hey everyone: I've got the videos of the dyno almost ready to upload but I wanted to put in a copy of each printout at the end. If you can scan them and e-mail each one to me I'll get them into the videos for you and then send them out/post them (whichever you prefer).

My e-mail is m.r.frye at comcast.net.

Mike, we won't be able to get you ours until I go back to work next Monday, I'm sorry to say. No scanner at home, and I'm on vacation all week.

Jon,

Very cool. I'll get your video done today or tomorrow on the train and get it out to you. Do you want it public (google video) or just sent to an e-mail address?

Leslie,

I was able to get the bung plug out of my crossovers and I found one of my vacuum leaks (dipstick tube!) but I still have another slow one I can hear when I pressurize the top end. I'm hoping to go back soon and get the full pull. I think the guy was hinting that he'd give me a break. Did you say you were going to talk to them about the sniffer?

Ernest seemed to think that the way they attached it (vice grips) may have affected the readings. Some were rich (like Kevin) and several were lean (with mine being the worst). I plan to have them do it both ways. I'll let you know when I plan to go back and maybe Kevin can get his exhaust bung replaced and we can both try with the inline sensor this time.

His HP numbers were huge, but with the tuning issues he might find a few more (or at least the chart will be cleaner and not so rich) mine didn't even get up to a high shift point so hopefully I can get it tuned enough for a good pull or two.

BTW- The audio from your vid will raise the hair on the back of your neck. It came out really good.
