the Euro's were originally fitted with KPH gauges, then changed to MPH gauges for the US federalization.

the instrument cluster may not have been entirely changed out for English language lettering (idiot lights and such), so other than the speedo change the gauges would remain written in German.

That would be weird... I'm not in the US... But Canada, and we are all in metric.

When Germany switched to metric?

I'm guessing the car is pretty light being an 80 w/a 5 speed 3200# maybe? No power anything inside and it has a vinyl interior so that saves some weight over leather.

Thanks again for the help!
I have an 82 Euro S with the decal in this photo. What does it mean? Gunar

E1 and E2 are European light regulations which tell what kind of lights are needed for car to be road legal. Lights themselves have to have those markings also to pass yearly inspection etc.

Default What do the other codes indicate?

I have a 78 Euro with a E1 / E2 sticker as well. Does anyone know what the other codes indicate? I notice mine has slightly different set of codes.

xxR codes are just more details which requlations car complies. This means other than just lights. For example:
R10 - electromagnetic compatibility
R11 - door latches and door retention components
R14 - safety-belt anchorages

Its basically list which tells according to what standards car has been tested and passed.
