Actually, I was under the impression (perhaps wrong) that the GTS shift handle is a 'thinner' style than that of previous models?

The important feature of Carl's shifter is that it has no thumb button to mash to change gears, you simply push down on the entire **** ever so slightly to move the shifter between P-R-N-D gears. You can just bump it when shifting from 2-3-D. It is really nice.

No, it's the same in all 85-95 models.

They had two other styles in earlier models - the kind in the 3-Speed Automatic cars, and then there was one that had a little tumb notch.

But 85 they had found their final style and kept it until the end.
