Thankyou to Bill Ball for RMS instructions
Just wanted to say a big thankyou to Bill Ball for his excellent instructions on how to remove the RMS from my auto GTS without dropping transmission and torque tube etc. The job is now done and the leaky seal is out. Just waiting for the new seal to arrive and it'll be time to put the 3D jigsaw back together again. It is a pretty straightforward job, just a bit tedious when you are laying on your back under a car on jackstands. However, I think I would've really doubted that I could actually get the flywheel out without seeing Bill's pictures. Cheers, Charles 93GTS & 87S4 in OZ.

FYI... I've done my RMS twice now, and it still leaks! Greg Brown has a tip where he lubes up the seal with Optimoly HT (IIRC?) and that seems to stop the leak. Sorry, i don't have the link handy.
Anyway, I read that after I did the 2nd replacement. Might be worth a try... can't hurt IMO, but please look up his original post, don't take my poor memory for granted.

Hi Andrew, I remember reading the thread you mention and intend to follow Greg Brown's advice when fitting the new seal. Cheers, Charles

Charles:
Glad you found the notes helpful. Hope it goes back together easily and doesn't leak! I should add what Andrew mentioned from Greg Brown - Lubing the seal lip should be SOP for any seal against a rotating shaft. My replacement RMS has been fine for about 80K miles now.
Here's the notes to which Charles is referring.

GTS back together and no leaks!
Hi Guys, my GTS is now back together after doing the RMS and is showing zero leaks after the first 500 miles. I packed the new seal with grease and fabricated a seal pusher to seat the RMS using the crankshaft bolts as there was no way I could see to "tap" it into place using hammers etc. I think the hardest part of the job was accessing the top bell housing bolts - I ended up fabricating some long spanners with multiple bends to get them out. Thanks to all who provided suggestions. Cheers, Charles 93GTS & 87 Lightweight Project
