Default Will these wheels fit?

I'm looking at buying some new wheels for my car...and I've found some that I like...but I'm not sure if they'll fit with the offsets. I've tried Andrew's fitment calculator and it seems like they might work out with the right tires...but I'd like to make sure. Here are the wheels with the sizes and offsets that I've narrowed it down to...will any of these work?

Front: 18x8 50mm offset
Rear: 18x11 63mm offset
------------------------------
Front: 18x8 47mm offset
Rear: 18x10 55mm offset
------------------------------
Front: 18x8 50mm offset
Rear: 18x10 65mm offset
-------------------------------
Front: 17x7.5 52mm offset
Rear: 17x9 47mm offset

Thanks

17s look lame on a 928, so 86 those ones... And I know the 1st and 3rd sets will work, just depends if you want 11s or not. You might have to 'massage' the rear fenders, but I've made some wheels fit that no one said would ever work, ie 12" RH rears with some weird 911 turbo offset.

11's should fit, but you'll need a spacer. If you run a 295 tire there's a good chance you'll have to roll the fender.

I thought the consensus was anything less than a 50mm ET on the front was bad. 55 was ideal.

So based on that, I'd say your 3rd set is in. Your 1st set may also work, but with some massaging. And I agree, 17's look old, don't even consider them.

55mm Should probably be considered the minimum front offset. Those rear 18x10's with 65mm offset would be awesome on the front as far as steering and suspension geometry, but would rub with the tires you'd want to use on a 10" rim.

Yes. Bob speaks the truth. 55mm offset is ideal minimum offset, although many have run 50mm without issue - except for some minor loss in handeling. In my opinion anything less than 50mm is not good and I certainly would never put anythign less than 50mm on my car.

A sawzall will make any wheel fit, just get a good metal blade and enlarge the wheel arches as you need to.

Well...considering I don't really want to roll my fenders, and the sawzall seems like it may not be the best idea, I'll keep the search up.

Thanks

There are really only three good options for 18" wheels on the 928. The Carrera III's, the 5-spoke Cayman's (look kinda like the Carrera GT wheels) and custom wheels. The first two have 18x8" fronts with 57mm offsets, and the custom wheel you get to choose whatever offsets you want (18x9 or 18x9.5 68-70mm max).

I went with the Carrera III's...and they come with Michelin PS2s so I'm feeling pretty good.

18 x 8 Fronts with 57 Offset 235 / 40 ZR 18
18 x 10 Rears with 58 Offset 265 / 40 ZR 18

Now I just need to get some new lug nuts to match my new wheels. I read that I'm going to need to use open lug nuts on the rear. And I've heard that some of them on eBay are of low quality and I wanted to avoid those. Anybody have any recommendations for a place to get some lugs?

Well, I finally got the wheels put on today (pics to come soon) and I was surprised to find that there were not any spacers for the rear wheels. I was under the impression that I would have to remove the spacers and use open ended lug nuts on the rear. So, I used the stock lug nuts for now and I now have 10 brand new open ended lug nuts. Were the spacers not added until later years?

Thanks

Hi Casey,

Great to hear about your final decision on the wheels. The P.O. swopped out the original man-hole cover wheels with the 993 wheels (they had something like a 68 mm to 70 mm offset in the rear). He had to use the slide-on spacers which I believe is a factory option.

I did not have to use these spacers when I switched to the Carrera-III factory wheels.

I have a slight rub of rub on my 235 set-up in the front with the Michelin Pilot Sport tire when making sharp turn on a few ocassions. Do you experience the same issue? If no, what is the mfgr/make of your tire?

Are those wheels repops or originals?

I will get the pictures up as soon as my server quits giving me problems. I tried uploading them to my member website, but according to them I'm not a member. I sent them an email to see if they'll fix it, because I shouldn't be due to renew until October.

I can't really answer that question yet because I haven't had a chance to drive it. So far all I've done is back it out into my driveway to take some pictures. I'm not sure when I will have a chance to drive it, as I'm still having problems with it dying on me at random times so I haven't driven it in a couple weeks.

The tires that are on there Michelin Pilot Sport PS2.

As it is now, my car looks like its ready for off roading, it is really high in the front.

According to the auction, they are factory original wheels off of a 2005 997.
