Papa's got a brand new bung (X-pipe install)

So you paid $300 for a bunch of metal pipes that improve access.. makes $420 for a proven 20rwhp gain seem like a bargain to me The gains were on my non-cat 89, which didn't have 20 year old clogged factory cats, so odds are a 928 equipped with a catalytic converter will see bigger gains.
Not all x's are equal either - the distance to the X from the engine, angle of entry and exits, pipe size etc. all matter. So for those considering it, the welding up an ebay X onto some pipes to fit your 928 won't net you the same gains.

Would not spin the tires before and smokes them after.
The access is a added bonus
Maybe I was just lucky I used 2.5 pipe and have less restriction now without cats and with the O2 in the same place as stock
Also with the x pipe above it is short of making it to the stock exhaust so the total price was $795, for a very nice exhaust I might add.
I just $395 less thats all Hilton, then spent an extra $5000 at Carls on other things. But make no mistake Hilton, removing the cats increased power and decreased weight.
X-pipe: $420
100cpi cats: $305/pr
Installation hardware kit: $30
Drop shipping from SLC: $40
So $795.

Oh there was definitely a gain in power.

Since your H pipe is crush bent, it is not 2.5".... take a vernier and measure the narrowest spot on the pipe, then deduct the wall thinckens X2 and that's what the inside diameter of your $300 H pipe is. Do you have some clearer pictures the pipe?

So Rob, Is this part of your "return to stock" plan for the GT?

Jeff-
Just boxed your X-pipe up, I included the 2 pairs of easyseal clamps that connect the X to the cats and the cats to the resonator pipes. The only thing you'll need is some of the fiberglass wrap and a new set of M8 bolts and nuts for the downpipes. And of course it occurs to me that I forgot to put the test/bypass pipes in the box. Will mail those separately. Headed to Fedex now, will PM you later.

And according to UPS, this all shows up today...which is pretty wild, should have been tomorrow.
I may be up late tonight..or *cough* sick day tomorrow.

Yep. I'm going to refinish the set of D90's I have for it, put the CD-2 back in, and put it up on blocks in the garage and go through the underside with Q-tips. Should be therapeutic. The motorsports X absolutely woke it up beautifully, it was the single best performance mod I tried on the GT. But the stroker has kind of made beating on the GT superfluous, and it's otherwise unmolested, so it's gonna be the stock car.
You've got the best of both worlds. A "purist" car, and a "Bat Outta Hell" car....
Perfect!

..not bad..
I just see, im gonna have to re-visit these attachments.
I personally like these:

And..when I pulled the stock unit..my OEM cats are just..a disaster inside.
we'll see how it runs now..

..just finishin dinner downtown here..
Its..siginificantly loud(er).
I have an 89 resonators, and RMB as well that came with the $4k car.
Ya...im gonna have to take a notch of bling off the note with other resonators, or a nice 2in-2out chambered unit at the rear.
Personal preference...
BUT..tomorrow I bet I pass smog now...I had -no- cats before.

But love it.

You might want to keep the stock cats to pass the smog test (if they still work).
