OK, let me rephrase that: ENFORCE the left lane rule. Make a violation REALLY hurt until the idiots cease ignoring it.

Tennessee the state that keeps on giving… two week later!

Just received a PHOTO ticket from Tenn. with two nice pic’s of my car and a sweet gold 928 out in front.

The cam stats read along w/time of day and date, posted speed 55 and vehicle speed 66!

Ticket states exceeded posted limit w/no speed indicated Pay $75.00 check, money order or Credit card…!

I can not believe this real, but I know it is, strap on those super chargers and turbos and drive em while you can boys and girls, as this kind of thing spreads and big brother can just pop one in the mail automagicly and without even a chance to speak w/ the officer…, this is sad for motoring. I am sure glad it reads 66 and not 120.. must have slowed for traffic or a radar hit.

Anyone know if those license plate photo diffusers work?

Wow, 11 mph over the limit is chicken ****.

Robo ticket writing computers are a dangerous sign of things to come.

Was the photo radar in an obvious yellow box like they have in Europe or hidden.
I loved how the Europeans creatively interact with the photo radar boxes.
They've hung tire around the box and set it on fire. The usual drive by spray paint.
Think the best radar p3wnd was drill hole in radar enclosure and fill box with that lovely insulating expansion foam.

An obvious camera enclosure will slow down traffic.
Hidden camera is just a revenue generator.

Yes, they do work, and work well. In California, if a bear spots one of them, it is a fix it ticket = $10 and mail it in. Do the math. Don't forget to factor in the increase in your insurance over three years.

(stepping up onto soapbox again) My beef with photo radar is this: absent criminal intent, NO crime has been committed. Instantaneous (short duration) speed in excess of a legally posted speed limit is IMO not a crime unless you can substantiate a sustained and intentional maitenance of that speed. The question is then how long a period of time or distance is "sustained and intentional"? In Hawaii it is defined by statute as two tenths of a mile, which is the distance the bear must substantiate he verified your speed. Chew on that for awhile if you aren't pissed yet. Think about placing a camera at the base of a long hill or just over the crest of a steep hill = mucho dinero for the state. Everyone, no matter how careful or sincere, exceeds the limit once in awhile, if they are alive. That's why there is a speedometer in the car.

I have to wonder how long before MA makes two plates mandatory. I am presuming the photo is from the front, correct?

I spoke to Dave last night about his mis-fortune. He didn't even know that he had been tagged until he got the ticket int he mail. He was very pissed!

(I'll see if I can get a scan of the picture! )

In Michigan (one of the few benefits to being a union state...) the police union lobbied to have the traffic statutes read that a police office must witness the infraction. Red light cameras and speed cameras are not allowed... yet.

Are you sure it was a radar camera or was it a zoomed in from an aircraft? I noticed signs in Tenn stating speeds were monitored by aircraft so I was scanning the skies in addition to the roadway. Talk about adding another distraction...

Hi all, i have been out in the garage working on Pauls '91, should be back together tomorrow
I'll see if I can scan and post what I received, as my Comcast Cable has been unstable as of the storm two weeks ago. If it is still working when I get done tonight I'll scan and post it.

Yes it was from the rear looks like a wide pole shot and a close up lower one. What gets me is I don't recall the exact situation I was in two weeks ago during a 2k mile trip! Maybe I was passing someone?

Thanks for the comments.

Sorry but I think this type of ticketing is soooo wrong! as I said i don't even remember when, where or the situation.

No tickets from SITM, but have gotten 3 since my return.... 2 in the GTS, one in the GT..... All more than 15 over......
The latest one was in a work zone, and I was thinking do not speed.... do not speed..... do not speed....(since I already had two) Anyway, I was going the proper 55mph in the right lane of the work zone, and some girl fly's by me in a Hyundai, Santa Fe SUV, and I think, good a rabbit, and I subsequently moved over behind her to pass a slow moving semi, only to immediately have a state boy sitting under an overpass.... His lights came on immediately, and I thought for sure he was getting her, but he instead got me.... It was like a bad dream and I was thinking this can't be happening.....When I explained the scenario to him and asked if he saw her, he said he saw me, but didn't see her......Aaargh...
I pleaded for a break and he said he'd see what he could do, only to return and say, "Mr. Schickel, I'm issuing you a citation for 70 in a 55 work zone....."
I don't think I was going more than 60......... I swear, I think he was napping and just woke up and saw me when his radar went off.......
The hell of it is that he issued a court date on the same day as one of the other ones.....
I can see the judge now when, after the first one is settled, he'll see me still sitting there and say you're free to go, and I'll sheepishly have to explain I've got another one farther down in his stack..........
I haven't gotten a ticket in years, and then 3 in less than a month.....It's to the point of being hilarious.....
I've deserved a lot of tickets over the years, but all three of these were given in mostly innocuous situations..... For the most part, when I'm in my P-cars, I drive very cautiously, while the rest of the world around me is driving like a bunch of maniacs, yet they seem to be invisible...... Could it be Porsche profiling....? I was polite and courteous to the kind officers, yet they were not in a reciprocating mood......

For some great reading try Google for: Mount-Carmel speed camera

Like this one:
http://blogs.knoxnews.com/knx/silenc...s_caught.shtml

"Offenders cited so far include one warning and two tickets to state troopers. The new system has also caused four speeding citations to be issued to Hawkins County Sheriff's Office cars".

This is bizarre...
