Default Damaged B3 drum?

Taking my tranny apart to replace some seals and gaskets, and I came across this. I believe this is the B3 drum? (directly behind the main pump-please correctly identify the part if I'm wrong).
Sorry for the crappy phone pic, but if you look around the perimeter of the drum, right where the face meets the side, you can see where there was some apparent contact. This is not a smooth, rubbing-type wear mark, its is sharp and jagged, more like gouge marks. I haven't dropped the pan yet, so I don't know if there is something loose in there, but has anyone every come across this before? A fellow 928 owner thought it could just be a welding bead, but it doesn't look quite like a weld to me. Any input?

More than likely a weld from assembly, normal.

Someone needs to show those MB guys how to weld, that would never pass Stuttgart standards.
