My guess was going to be 4K if it runs good and most mechanical is functional.

It is a $2,500 car I am positive about that . Do the math start out with what can you get a nice car for ... then start subtracting for paint body work , replacement lights, the probable need things like A/C , power steering rack , timing belt water pump , intake manifold R an R with hoses gaskets knock sensors idle stabilizer, all the unknowns. Like do the wheels all point the same direction ?? Oh right you do not have the money to buy a nice car .... never mind Just part of the journey of life. Good or bad you will remember this car forever !!

Well it's worse than running without lights. It's been sitting with lights. The lights work. It just needs two lenses.

Default the plunge...

Well, I paid 3200 for my 84s, but the body and interior look pretty good, although it only has three forward gears, (automatic).

Your car has a much more powerfull engine. I'm thinking you paid 4000.

What do I win !!!!

Not trying to be sarcastic but those scrapes and scratches down the passenger side should be drastically minimized with a rotary buffer, wool pad, and some aggressive rubbing compound if they are on factory paint. You won't be able to eliminate them entirely, but you'd be surprised with the results. Might make it livable for quite a while. If there's no denting/distortion of the sheet metal underneath, there's a good chance the impact picked up more paint them it lost.

That interior looks very "dry." Like the seats could tear and the dash could crack at any time. I would suggest a complete interior detail/condition seats to try to put a stop to any further breakdown.

Lexol cleaner, with SOFT brush. Then I would use either Connolly Hide Food or Neats Oil...and lots of it. figure on three or four applications.
It appears that 'Connolly' (had o check my spelling, and discovered...) has gone out of business....here is a link to an outfit that has picked up the gauntlet...so to speak....

You still may be able to pick up the original kit at a British Motor Car dealer......check at Jag or Aston dealership

Okay guys. Well, I guess I better keep studying. I really expected some more encouraging numbers. I never see street legal (or street legal-ish) S4s go for under 6 or 7 thousand. You all must just know where to look. Based on your estimates...

(3000+4000+2500+4000)/4guesses minus actual price, I lost $1125 by buying this one.

That leaves me wondering if it would be smart for me to put it right up on eBay and hope to get what I paid. I had been thinking it's eBay value was certainly higher than it's selling price...

Anyway, it's too soon to talk about all that. For one thing, I have 5 exams tomorrow, and 3 on Thursday. Once I actually see the car, I'll give updates and maybe you guys will have opinions about how to proceed.

Can you clarify the price? By doing your math I guess you paid 4500? Is that right? If so your not that bad off.

Well I think it's a good deal. If it runs and drives good. With knowing nothing about the mechanical condition you could still be hosed.

I have to post my brother's response to the pictures I sent him...

So I guess the idea is either:

1. What is the sense of owning a Porsche if you can't drive it drunk, or
2. They told me a Porsche could never win a tractor pull (and they were right!), or
3. "So I took your parking spot. What are you gonna do about it Tony Soprano?", or
4. "Just a good ole boys... wouldn't change if they could...", or
5. "It came that way from Germany -- them's air resistance reducing dings." or
6. "If you think that's bad, be glad you can't see inside the engine!" or
7. "Who's gonna see that, fast as this car goes?" or
8. "At least I patched the bullet holes." or
9. Batmobile is in the shop my ***. I'll never lend batman my car again. or
10. This is the actual car from Risky Business!

How long does it take to get a fender off?
