I've had Metal Masters on the car for 45k now, and they are less than half worn. I must not use the brakes enough. Stopping is better than the factory pads, except for that first stop in the morning down at the gat when the pads and rotros are still cold. I sometimes drag the brakes on the way down (~ 1/4 mile) just to get things warmed up. After that, they are great. Low dust, no squeaks, stop great, reasonable price and readily available. PBR also makes an organic (non-metallic) pad that's reported to be easier on the rotors. I'm interested in Malcolm's report on the ceramic version too.
Rotors are in my future on the next pad change, since they are worn to within 0.010" of min thickness; no room to resurface and still have wear room. Maybe look for some with the zink electro galvanized hats so they stay a little prettier. Grooves or holes, or plain?
