check the hot post and the battery connections and the CE panel for water damage, Make sure to disconnect the battery first

Have you checked all the grounds? In the New Visitor thread there is a list or link. Sounds like something loose. Could the green wire do this? Search. I know nothing about OBs, but this rings a bell.

Lots of possbile causes.
Check how well the coil wire fits the coil. Some replacement wires don't fit well at all. Happened to me early last week after a wire change, same symptoms as you describe.

Replace/
Ignition switch
Fuel Pump Fuse and Relay
Clean/
All Grounds and I mean ALL.
Clean up the battery ground strap to body connection.
Check/
Ignition wires are on the right plugs (fire order)
You may be getting this miss all the time. I know my 79 seemed to idle perfect on only 4 cylinders. The PO had 4 ignition wires on the wrong plugs.
That should be a good start. Good Luck

If it's a euro version with a euro distributor rotor, I would replace it with the US version. They have a centrifugal over rev cutoff and if the spring weakens it will cause the symptoms you are experiencing.

ok the fuel pump relay finally died i replaced with a new one from 928 int thanks guys seems the miss has cleared up but it still just cuts out for no reason while driving seems to happen more turning right i have replaced alomst everything any mor ideas?

Intermittant problems like the cutting out is normally associated with loose electrical connections. Did you check the connections at the fuel pump and where the fuel pump ground connects to the body?

'Mostly when turning right' makes the electrical portion of the ignition switch suspect, especially if the headlights drop out at the same tome (lose illumination but don't retract). Part is inexpensive and not that big a chore to change. The lock part stays so no need to rekey.

i have already replace the ignition switch it was worn out when i go the car i bought a new one from 928 int has anyone ever got a bad one new? i also replaced the fuel pump last yr but the engine dies very abruptly not like its out of fuel and it back fires if i keep the gas down and it will not restart unless i recycle the key i did replace the distributor early this yr with a used one would this be maybe a hall effect sensor going bad?

your car doesnt have a hall sensor. only 87 and newer IIRC. Youe problem sounds like a fuel injection issue try some techroline that may free things up. also remove the fuel filter and blow out the opposite of the regular flow into a clear container looking for contaminates

i have had the fuel system apart many times and replaced almost the whole thing except the engine stops very abruptly not like its running out of gas i have been running fuel presure gages on the engine since day one and all the presures seem to be bang on i even had the tank out thinking it was crud in the bottom but it was perfectly clean also i may just pull a distributor off of one of the other cars and run it for a few days see if the prob is still there do the ignition moduls ever go bad or maybe the resistors on the fire wall i'm running out of stuff to replace lol good thing i'm doing it myself this would cost a fortune at a garage thanks for your help all

Another possible area would be at the connection where the green wire from the distributor plugs into the ignition control box on the passenger side fenderwell. Make sue it's clean and the plastic connector housing is in good shape.
