Default FS: MB-Quarts again $600 Q-line

So I now have a self imposed deadline to sell the car, and of course this happens right after i finished buying my dream 928 setup. Well I realize that a new owner wont care in most instances so this stuff has to go. This was a set i assembled for myself but i only got as far as installing the front door speakers and crossovers. (see other thread) If anyone has been following this stereo adventure of mine you will know ive changed setups and plans about a dozen times. One constant was these speakers. But again, since the rears never got installed i would rather just keep the Polks in (which still sound pretty good to me) and sell these to someone else. These are now NLA and the QSD that replaced these (year to year change) can be found for more than double the price. So I think this is the last chance you will have at getting these kind of speakers at this kind of price.

The set consists of 2 sets of 210's and 1 set of 164's. This is for the 10 speaker setup 928 (from 89 or 90, count the speakers)

Negatives, well this is not an easy install. You need to redrill the 4" woofers. You need to find a place to hide 3 crossovers for the rear. (The fronts hide in the door panels) and you really should run these off an amp. I only ran them off the HU and you will never get the full effect. So there is some assembly required.

Also, again, the front set is installed in the car but is absolutely mint. It will come in the boxes which i saved and it should be assumed they are perfect, just no longer "new". The 4 woofers and 2 tweeters for the rear are still new and uninstalled.

Price is $600 plus shipping. Also included is the 4" spacer rings which are required for this install. These are not included with the standard set, i had to purchase these ala carte, they are included. Also I will include the door panel wiring harness that goes from the crossover in the door to the woofer and tweeter. I also have additional gold plated connectors for the other tweeters and all the crimp connectors required to install the system ($50 worth of connectors and other oddball stuff)

As usual, first PM gets them. Shipping should be about $20 give or take.

Feel free to post any questions, or feel free to e-mail me or PM me about them.

Also below are pics from an earlier set i sold, the ones i am selling are the EXACT same thing, scouts honor.

Wow have car audio speakers gotten expensive and this is coming from a guy with a set of B&W speakers in his living room.. Good luck with the sale!

You have some competion as far as GT sales. I believe low miler has one for sale on pelican with 50k miles for the same asking price as yours. Just a heads up.

Thanks Ron,

Yeah gotta get rid of this stuff before it gets installed, no sense in dumping more money into it, it doesnt make the car worth anymore. I used to live in NYC 7-8 years ago, and when i was there i never even thought about cars. As for being sure i can do it, the apartment situation in nyc was always iffy, its now become crystal clear as of about 3pm central yesterday, so yeah, I AM REALLY EXCITED! The car will be sold, but i may buy another at some point if i find another project for cheap. I have family in Long Island and it could be a place to work on that in the future. But for now the GT's got to go, no sense keeping it if i wont be driving it. As is, the car honestly spends 95% of its time in some sore of disrepair/restoration. It hasnt been a complete car since shortly after i bought it. Ive always had something apart, fixing something, cleaning something. I think ideally the next P-car will be something i can just get it and drive. My philosophy with this car is all wrong, (trying to make it perfect) and I really never even drive it.

I will keep in touch, i think i owe it to myself to buy another 928 at some point. I have touched 95% of every subsystem of the car. That knowledge could really help me on another project.

As for these speakers being too expensive, i think your a bit out of touch with reality hombre, they retailed for $3,000. This is 20% of that price, sorry thats cheap.

Low miler may have a lower mile car, but everything on my car is NEW! I'm not kidding, EVERYTHING is new, refreshed, restored etc etc, as in this car NEEDS NO WORK.

Ryan I think you mis-understood. I wasn't saying your asking price was expensive. I was just saying car audio speakers in general have gotten expensive, thats all. Good Luck with the sale.

Well then it maybe it's time to start driving it. I found my old 928 to be great for a quick escape from Boston to the White Mountains when I felt cramped.

your right, its time for someone else to start driving it.

back to the speakers, anyone know the cheapest way to send an 19 x 18 x 16 box that weighs about 25lbs from Texas to the UK?

USPS Priority Mail International
The cheapest I found used to be called US Parcel Post (USPS) and I think the link above is the replacement product.

I'd think about buying those, but they are worth more than my car.
