Valve spring installation specs when using 944 S2/968 valve springs in 928 32V head
Some have installed 944 S2/968 valve springs either as part of the 968 intake valve mod or as separate trial to fight cam lobe pitting. In both 32V 928 and 16V 944/968 head valves can come above head same distance, 44.4mm for intake and 43.4mm for exhaust. Other parts are same except lower valve plate which is 1.5mm thick in 944 S2/968 and 4.5mm thick in '87+ 928.
Which part have been used in these 928 setups? I'm quesing correct for valve springs 1.5mm thick one which is luckily same as in 928 S3.
How about valve spring installed lenght? Has it been set to 2.5mm longer 968 spec or something else?
Just trying to figure out possible options. I think I have everthing needed to just about any variation except 944 S2/968 valve springs for one head.

Hi Erkka,
Yes the 1.5mm lower plate is the one you want to use.
I don't know of anyone that has measured the actual installed specs with these springs as far as seat pressures and installed heights. This is one of my many projects yet to do (unless you beat me to it). Louie doesn't run the P-spring, but I think he did some measurements on Don Hanson's car which did run them.
I think for the most part everyone just installs and runs them because they are proven to work. Here's a short thread on the subject from awhile back:
