Default Speakers

My door speakers for my 1983s have knacked. Ive taken one out, now I know from this site that pioneer do a good replacement but I cant seem to get them in the UK. Does anyone know of antoher type that will fit, its the depth that is the issue, a slim 1.8". Has anybody replaced these lately, I do not want to cut the doors or anything, I like the original look.

No offense to the poster above but a speaker from an 86 is still 22 years old. Find a new unit that fits, you won't be disappointed.

What I did with mine is get some 3 1/2" full range speakers. The four tabs that stick out for the mounting screws turn out to be the exact size as the larger original door speakers so I was able to screw the original speaker grilles onto the new speaker tabs and they look original. I just used 2 flat washers behind each one to get the tabs high enough above the upholstery so the grille threaded on.

5 months of opening and closing the doors and still no issues.

Focal slim lines
Hertz
Hybrid Audio Technologys Legatia 3" or 4" ...the best car speakers in the world??

The door speaker needs to be about a 36mm mounting depth.
New speakers with big magnets can be a problem as the recess in the door is oval bowl shaped, so the sloping sides hit the larger magnets .
I have twin Rainbow Profi M100s [4"] that need a 6mm spacer to clear the large magnets. Once the speaker is done up tight the spacer nearly disapears in the door trim.

Hi Ho Silver,

I think they are 4x6's you need... If you want a couple for the cost of shipping I have a pair of JBL's that I pulled out of my Mercedes last weekend.

Let me know,

Cheers,
Ben
