Default Alternatives to new AC blower?

AC Blower on my 86 is kaput, won't spin even with 12v direct at the last connector. Can these be rebuilt? or repaired? It's just a bloody DC motor....right?

TIA KK

PS Florida is already getting hot and sticky, I want my AC!

Just about anything can be rebuilt. Several years ago I got a rebuilt from a Porsche speciality shop. Call one of our great vendors that support this forum, I'm sure they can get you a re-built, used or new unit.

^ I second that... also, if you can get the motor out and take it to just about any electrical shop...heck..even a vacuum shop and and ask them if they can get it working. As usual dont tell them its off a Porsche. The service price will double.

same goes for the cooling fan motors.

Have at it - what do you have to loose? Electric motors are pretty basic things - usually new brushes, cleaning, lubing and commutator restoration will fix most issues... often the hardest part is figuring out how to get it out of the case without damage.

Ok Brendan, that sounds like a deal, but let's not use greyhound this time! It was cheap, but the looks I got when I picked up the bumper cover were nothing short of wierd.

I did a write-up a couple years ago installing a GM motor in my case. It is still going strong (and quiet).

If the link does not work, do an advanced search for "GM fan motor" and "Al-Shark."

Thanks Al
I'll try that even after I get B's blower in. Seems to me that my blower has always been a bit weak, more VW than Porsche. Maybe one of them thar "electric superchargers" would do the trick down heah in the land o' gators.

Thanks KK
