Default Differential warning?????

Started the GTS this morning and 30 seconds later had a red warning, "Differential Contr. Off". I cleared the warning and hit the road. I made three stops in town and each time I started the car the warning came on and I cleared it with the stalk.

Hit the freeway and 20 miles later the warning came on again, cleared it.
Now it is no longer coming on.

The owners manual just says, "See "Automatic limited-slip differential (PSD)". It considers it a Priority 2 warning.

Went through the WSM but couldn't find anything.

Before putting it away two days ago, I ran a race against the Euro, and did a burn out from a stop, around a 90 degree right hand turn.

Any advise welcome.

Check relay and fuse contacts in spare tire well, just a thought.

Use a diagnostic tester to read the ABS/PSD controller fault codes.

Stop doing burnouts and be carefull on 90 degree right hand turns .We both know how dangerous those can be.

How long has it been since the PSD was serviced? I think tne manual calls for an oil change every 30K miles.

Last definite service was 12/99 with 24,828 on the odometer, so that's 40,000 miles. I guess it's due. What do you recommend Jim? Redline?

Charley,

I have the same issue and am going through it myself. From the WSM, this is what i have found.

Roger ran the Hammer on my car and got no fault codes. When this happens and the ABS is still functioning (if the ABS faults, you will loose ABS and PSD, however i have ABS still but the PSD is inactive) then the WSM says that the fault is in the pressure system. This can be the pump, the accumulator or anything in that area i suppose. If you have a PSD fault then fix that, but i have no fault but get the warning. But occasionally i get the PSD light to flash, so its a bit odd, i dont think its working 100%, but it may not be a pump failure and could be a service or flush issue. Last time i tred to flush i could not get anything out of the bleeder which is the first or second step in Louie Ott's and John V service procedure checklist. So i never got to flush my system out. I think the PSD problem could be old fluid, but not 100%

Also the warnings always return every 30 minutes i think. So when i had a bad coolant sensor it would come on upon startup, but i cancell it and then it reappears in 30 minutes if the car i still on, you simply cancel it again. But the fault still remains. The PSD has been an issue since ive owned the car. I will try and flush the system again before proceeding with more diagnosis, i think never attempted to do it again after the first time but have since learnt allot about the system.
