Default M-Fing heater valve!?!?!?!??!

Okay so I thought I "fixed" my heater valve last week..... So I take sharky for a drive today and notice the low coolant warning...figure its no biggie, must need to add some coolant...as I get close to home I notice the smell of coolant (WONDEFUL)....pull in the garage and sure enough its leaking at the rear connection to the heater valve....

Whats the real bummer is I can't tell if its the hose, clamp or valve itself that leaking!!! As soon as I "popped" the coolant tank the pressure dropped and the coolant stopped leaking....so I am thinking its the hose fitting at the back of the valve...which OF COURSE is the hardest one to get to!!!!

So fixing this tomorrow has jumped to the top of my priority list so I can make Sharks in the Park on Saturday!!

Ugh, that sucks.

Hope it's just a loose hose clamp or something simple. GL

Hard to get is an understatement for sure. I recently pulled my motor and didn't even see all the heater hoses back there. Needless to say another email was sent Roger's way. With my luck the hose or clamp, or whatever is hardest to get to, will go first.

Best of luck for a speedy repair.

Brian ... it's second nature to me already ... but the key is to remove the valve with the hose attached and reinstall it with the screw easily accessible

If you replace the short hose w/just a piece of regular heater hose, it will leak at the head side because it is too big. I had to use two clamps. I cut my valve out last week for the trip to Road Atlanta and went one step TOOOOO far. In my determined effort to keep any heat out of the interior, I blocked the heater hose off at the FRONT at the water bridge like on a regular V8!!!!!!!!!!!!! Drove it 200 miles that way before I had a divine revelation as to what the slowly escalating overheating was. Yes, God was my Co pilot. I just wish he had been in the garage when I was trying to commit 928 suicide. Anyway, for some reason it wasn't hurt.

Well its fixed!!! Just in time for SATP too....

It turns out I didn't have the rear hose seated all the way and it slipped a bit causing the leak.....now it is on there good.....

It also was far easier this time..... Just undid the block hose...pulled the hole thing up...fixed the rear hose....j& dropped it back in place....maybe 1/2 a hour total...... :>)
