Default Warm Engine Idle Issues

My car starts fine whne the engine is cold - fires right up to a stable, if slightly lumpy idle.

The problem is when restarting after it's sat for 30 - 60 minutes. While the car will fire right up, it won't keep running unless I keep my foot on the gas, keeping the revs above 1000rpm. After about 30 seconds, it's fine and that's the end of the problem until the next warm restart.

If I shut it off and then start it again right away, it fires up & idles with no problem.

Any ideas?

Leaky injector ? Is there a strong smell of fuel from the exhaust when it does fire up ? Black smoke ?

Two things come to mind:
1 How old are your plugs? Also if you changed them recently, what type of plug are you using? You should stay with the Bosch Copper 7's (WDR7C I think).

2. Temp II seonsor. This is the sensor on the water bridge, just behind the cross bar that is on the passenger-side of center. If this is disconnected or not working, I believe the car will operate in an enriched mode (more fuel) which could cause hard starting.

If the ISV was dirty, it would be at cold or hot... or even at random idle situations. The key here is Hot starts.

Thanks guys.
I don't believe it's an injector problem (none of John's suggested symptoms). Unsure how old the plugs are, as I've had the car less than 5K miles, but I'll check them out. The temp sensor suggestion looks promising, so that will be my first target.

plug is Bosch Super, Copper tip WR7DC. Autozone has them part # 7900 about 1.99 each, use some anti seize on the threads, gap to .028in
Check the dampers and the fuel pressure regulator for a leak of either fuel into the vacuum line or them not holding vacuum. Put i a can of Techron in the gas tank. It sounds like a vaporlock problem. IE the fuel isnt staying in a liquid state due to low pressure

Maybe this link can help, if there's no extended crank condition.http://jenniskens.livedsl.nl/Technic...3/MyTip374.htm
