Default Help. Air box on '83

Trying to remove air box. Loosened the two bolts but box is still on solid. I looked in the WSM but couldn't find the solution.

Remove long bolt that runs through the rear of the plenum.

If you are talking about the air plenum that holds the air filter, on 83 + 84, The "inlet horn" has 4 additional bolts, which should be visible to you. They also need to be removed. 10 mm. A little contorted to reach.

Did you get it out?

I don't think the CIS Euro cars had the "barn door" air meter that has to be removed?

No I didn't get it out. Looking down inside the center of the box reveals a round plate that is flush, no opening visible. The PET shows a third bolt (hex head) front and center for the 83 Euro, but mine has a molded hole that is three or four inches deep, in the front of the box, with what looks like an allen head at the bottom. I didn't want to be turning something that didn't make sense to me.
I was trying to remove it to zip tie the heater valve closed. I managed to get it done with the air box on, but I wouldn't recommend the contortion act to anyone.

Charley, there is a long bolt that runs thru the spider body...remove that bolt to remove the housing. Bolt is on the top rear of spider body.

Duh!!! Now I get it. I saw that bolt head on the Spyder body and the shaft of the bolt down below running through the foot of the box and still managed not to put 2 and 2 together. Thanks Rich.

How can I be so smart when reading playboy and so dumb when reading a parts manual?
