This looked like an ingenious 'fix' to the recirc actuator going bad! I suspect this has been in the car for many many years. Anyhow, thought it would be fun to post some of the progress pictures from my HVAC revamp. Thanks Roger for the parts and Don S for coming over and helping me tear the console out. Fun job.

Recaro Orthos as far as I know. I can just see whoever installed those corks. "how can we plug that flap?.. Ah, I have just the thing!"

Haha, that's great! I would have done just that, but as a temporary fix. Years does not sound very temporary...

If you want a hand with your AC vacumn stuff please let me know. I would actually like to get some wrench time in on this as my diaphrams probably need to be replaced as well and i would love to see what your doing to sway me to either buy the things and do the replacement or not.
