Jeez guys. The guy asked about a 5 speed not an automatic. I would think it would be no problem to tow a 5 speed but the late Dr. Mohr inisted that it could not be done and stated that he damaged his transmission in the 79 by towing it with the rear wheels down. I can personally attest to the fact that there is some strange noise coming from the rear of the car if the clutch isn't depressed. It gets louder if you drive it. What actually went wrong will not be known for a week or two. Maybe an expert like Steve Cataneo can chime in about this.
You can't drive that car for 60 miles without plugging it in? You should mount some solar cells on the roof or something.

Yes and that question was answered long ago , the automatic discussion expanded the thread somewhat and possible will prevent someone from destroying their automatic trans 928.

The manual transmission is splash lubricated no pump in all but the GTS but the automatics all have a pump to circulate lubricate the internal bits and it only spins when the driveshaft/engine is running.
