automatic trans lash?
I've pretty well brought my 1986.5 auto transmission back a stock behavior. Proper service, fluid levels, good vacuum to the modulator has the shifting precise and smooth except in one respect:
I notice an effect when I am coasting and gradually slowing, and suddenly push the accelerator, wanting to pick up speed. In this situation, the transmission jolts, as if there were lash in the connection to the driveshaft. I usually notice this if I have coasted down to at or less than 20 mph. I cannot be sure if the transmission is downshifting (kickdown) during this jolt, or what state the transmission is in, when I feel it. Again, this is the only situation in which I feel this effect. Downshifting and upshifting are always precise and more gentle under other circumstances. If I am more gentle on applying the accelerator after coasting, I don't detect thus happening.
Ideas?
Thanks.....
