Lemmee guess. There was free food involved.

Not at this magazine...no writers with soupliners in their sport coats are allowed to write for Excellence. Period.

It was GREAT to have Louie's fine Porsche in the magazine, and we've had Sterling's car -- if it's the same one I'm thinking about -- on the books for, uh, years now. That said, I can only publish what I can get my hands on, and that does indeed mean I need a story. That said, the standards are high, both for the cars (they're always fun in my book when they're excellent *and* built by the owner...) and the writing/photography (even more critical, frankly).

Then you have integrity/coi issues, travel, costs, etc. Can't have just anyone write it...

But, please don't ever think I don't dig 928s -- or want more interesting stories on them. We're always on the lookout for them and, oh wait, here's another one...

Cheers!

Pete, your efforts and results are really appreciated in this group. Of course, that won't stop us from having a little fun at your expense, occasionally.

Hi Pete,

Great job on the article and I truly appreciate the efforts to get all the details right! Thanks for showing Professor's Ott's creation to the public. Hate to speak for anyone but myself but I am certain I'm not the only 928 owner who feels this way. Keep those 928 articles coming! And yes, I am a subscriber to your very fine magazine.

Kind regards,
Constantine

Pete,
I was going to email Excellence directly, but since you are here, this'll work. I wanted to let you know what an outstanding job Peter did. The article speaks for itself of course. During the interview he asked me a few questions, and let me ramble on. I noticed he took a some notes and sometimes asked for clarification or further details on something. I just yakked. Mostly, I think he has a tape recorder in his head. He has all the little details I mentioned written with astounding accuracy. As the pictures show, he also has great photography skills.

He was always the perfect gentlemen. Polite and thoughtful especially since part of the work was done during the worst time of our lives. You have a gem in Peter Linsky.

A couple years ago they had a great comparo between an S4, & a Carrera 3.2. Naturally they gave the nod to the 911- but only by a slim margin.

A great and well deserved article that rewards excellent work and serves the 928 community very, very well.

Thanks, Louie. You just raised the bar WAY HIGH.

Louie,
My sincerest compliments on your great work, the results really show up in the car, and the article. I was so happy to receive my copy and read it last night (need to read it again, however, as jet lag from 2 weeks in Italy was making me nod off occasionally!!). I'll give it another go tonight. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and once again - WELL DONE.

Thanks very much Gary. The Excellence magazine web site is at www.excellent-mag.com. However, they don't have any articles on line. Too bad about that. A lot of mags have a few pages of an article as a tease, but not here.

If we want 928 coverage in Excellence it would be nice to support the magazine by BUYING a copy... numerous requests to buy that issue might be seen as DEMAND...
