I think you needto separate the people who are benefitting from the politics. There are two families who are now disabled, thanks to the loss of a primary member. The support goes to the familes. LAPD is graciously assisting the group.

Whether that assistance by LAPD is right or not is certainly not the primary issue here. It falls under the same cloud as having 100 pieces of county and city fire equipment lining the streets around a funeral for a lost firefighter. Go ahead and complain. And rest assured that you'll always get first-class srvice from fire and paramedic crews.

Now, anybody have an extra $20 and want to go for a drive-and-show with a group of car enthusiasts on Sunday morning? That was the original thread.

Primary issue? Nice sidestep.

He he, I guess you missed my previous Malibu runs.. do a search my friend.

Dr., perhaps your $20 is better spent providing Kraig with a membership so he can post this in a non-technical forum.

What say you?

Well, it looks like I will not be making it tomorrow My wheel is still not back from the plater, and Eli says probably next week. Randi and I are going to Baja from May 2nd to May 9th, so maybe I can make the gathering in City of Industry, PCA second Saturday of the month

I'm half of part way through the front of the car at 3PM. Paint chip repairs are drying, half is polished out already.

If I get done with the car before midnight I'll likely be there. My 'plan' was to do the chips and let them dry for a week before attacking them. Instead I added a little hardener to the touch-up cup; We'll see how they look in a few weeks I guess. Over two years (about 10k miles) since this was done last. I'd forgotten how much fun it is doing chip repairs...

Rolf called and said he's going to be there with a friend.

I was in the process of kicking in some coin and when I totaled it they added $5.00 for shipping and handling. WTF?

What a great show! About 300 or us met over at VCR, which is typical for the last Sunday of the month. We had a police escort over to Pierce College, which is about 6 miles through congested city streets. We had two lanes of cars, going through red lights, while the cops would speed ahead to get to the next intersection before we got up to it.

Probably over 500 cars total at the lot. There were food vendors, T shirts, prizes and games, and even an auction. Most of us were gone by 11 am, as it was getting hot in that lot.

As usual, I was the only 928 there

Sorry I missed you--got there around 7:30 and walked the grounds a couple of times--was parked near the back by the F40 and a bunch of other Porsches.

The ride sounds almost like a funeral procession Sorry I missed it, sounds like you guys had a blast. You sound like you were bummed that you were the only 928, hell, whenever I'm the only 928, I get all the attention Don't know where you parked KraigG, but I talked to two other 928ers that were there.

Rolf, I hope to join you and Dr. Bob the second Saturday of May in City of Industry. We'll touch up before then. Did you and your passenger have a good time?? Did Dr. Bob make it

Larry,

Group of awesome cars for a great cause--Dr Bob's car still has the measles (touch up paint for chips) and didn't dry in time--my shotgun didn't have the right clothes and opted out.

Lets get together soon.

Sorry I missed the fun.

I'd planned on having the car sit for a week or so with the paint fixes drying. Got all that pretty much done yesterday morning then started working from the rear with the polish and wax. Had to stop when I got up to all the tape flags where the chip fixes happened. This is like watching paint dry... I did put catalyst in the paint, but it was still not ready for polish at midnight so I threw in the towel and went to bed. Fast forward to 5am (very fast forward...) and I was up tring to get it all together and done, but it it just wasn't going to happen in an hour. I got all the measles shaved OK but there's just no way to get all of them rubbed/polished/leveled perfectly in that little time. Two-plus years of SoCal driving means over 100 little chips and pockmarks to fix. It was pretty much done by noon, when...

A neighbor called to ask for help with stubborn 83yo hubby who was sitting on the stairs and refused to get up. 911'd him to the local hospital, where they noticed his massive double hernia, and also found an errant 3.5cm gallstone in one of the pictures. So the afternoon was spent with them at the hospital, as they sorted insurance issues. Turns out his insurance and the local hospital don't have a relationship, so he'll get moved to an in-plan facility after he's stabilized sometime tonight.

The good news is that the 928 looks great. Needs a final polish/glaze/wax in the front, but that's child's play at this point.

Bob-

When you're sitting in front of some giant turbine calculating its next MTBF and have some time to kill, could you commit to e-paper your paint chip repair? I've got a bunch on my nose that need some attention. Are you using one of those Eastwood measle shavers? (http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?i...emType=PRODUCT)

Where do you source the touch up paint? I presume this is your paint code?
