Default Installing 84 Euro Throttle Body on 82 US L-jet

Hello Everybody,
I am looking for information on the installation process of an 84 Euro Throttle Body to an 82 US plenum and motor. I am hoping that this thread will help the specifics of the install as opposed to whether it needs runners etc. I have a newly powdercoated US plenum and runners that I am going to use, but I know it will take some work to get them to mate. Also what needs to happen to mate to the "U". I am sure some of you have tried this, what all am I getting into here.
Thanks soooooo much.

either way, the U part is the most work, either way (with euro intake or not) it bolts right to the US "U", but you should dremel the material around it so that it is port matched.

mounting the top of the TB to the plennum, will require some streatching of the rubber adapter, but it can work.(heat gun will probably do it) BUT , just find a euro plennum, and of course the runners and mount them. the plennum is probably the most important part as the opening is huge compared to the US plennum.

if you have a euro throtttle body 84, then it will have the microswitch built into it. so, those little microswitches that will come off with the US stuff will go away. I had made brackets to use them. On scots car, we just cut the wires and wired them to the euro microswitch. dont even bother connecting the idle switch, its useless unless you dont like the little off throttle poping when you drive.

Mark,
Thanks for your reply. I thought that I had seen you mention in a previous post the possibility of honing out the bottom of the US plenum to match the Euro TB? I am sure that you are right about it being a better idea to get the Euro plenum, but since I just had the US plenum coated I really want to use it, even if it takes greater effort.
Thanks, Bob

ive seen the US to euro set up using a US plennum once before. Its probably not a huge difference, but still a difference. most of the restriction is in the throttle body. It will work, but like i said, you will probably have to soak the rubber adapter in boiling water for a few seconds to get it to stretch and go over the larger throttle body.
