UFO
Would I let a 928 owner put the tow eye.....NO... because short of him-her being an absolute jackass I would NOT tow their car...... I'd park it on the campus, keep the keys and make them bring back a licensed driver to pick it up later......we do it all the time to people that are cool....... there are scenarios where people have suspended licenses and don't know.....it all depends of the scenario-person-attitude....

BTW its good you have a valid license....it saves ton's of headaches later......& don't worry about yelling at cops when your drunk.....I do that too!!! :>)

It won't be long until this goes out of testing into codified into law for every state. At first the cops will have transponders and every car passing them will instantly tell them all the info the DMV wants. If you haven't paid your tickets, or owe some money, suspended license that tell the cop immediately and you're screwed.

Later as technology improves the cars stickers will talk to each other RFID sticker and sniff out if the car drove next to another car that was out of compliance and reveal instantly the car, owner, address, etc...

The days of speeding on anything but a race track will come to close in a decade. Its at the point where techology is going to enslave us more then it benefits us.
You assume someone would use those stickers willingly (knowingly). A little blue sticker with an 08 on it looks like any other stick with an 08 on it from 100 feet away.

Too many posts to read here. I do believe in MN there needs to be probable cause to run your plate.

I recall an incident where police were running a sting opperation in a section of highway in a tunnel. They were pulling over everyone on the evening of a super bowl game and checking people for DWI.

I was pulled over that night. I wasn't drinking, but remember reading about it later.

By asking if you knew why they pulled you over he was hoping you would admit to some wrong doing giving him the reason he needed to tell you you were under revocation.

BTW: When you renew your lic. they take your money and give you a receipt your supposed to carry inplace of your clipped lic. Did you have it?

Citizens are taking matters into their own hands. This citizen issued a ticket to a cop for illegal parking... $540. I love it.

So... Commanders (in this city) tell their officers it's ok to break the law.

Hmmm, do as I say and not as I do.

If the system really worked like it's supposed to, that video would have been shown to the Police Commissioner and that asshat assistant police chief would be fired. Someone in charge of upholding the laws saying that it's okay for an officer to break one, priceless! That's exactly the kind of thing that makes people hate the police.

The excuse that they shouldn't waste time looking for a "legal" parking spot is priceless.
When we take a firetruck or rescue to pick up anything (groceries for dinner comes to mind) we don't use the "fire lane" - we make a point to park as far away as needed NOT to inconvenience the public! Not to mention the excersise is great.
Oh wait - I get it, it's the excersise - - - need more donuts - - must have donuts

When I say that video, I thought immediately that the officer was intending to stay close to his cruiser in case of an emergency. In fact, bears come to eat lunch in the parking lot outside my office all the time and leave their engines running while they eat in the car. I understand that, and if it made a difference in time to respond to my need for assistance, I would condone it. As a matter of fact, I applaud it and want their presence. However, they are parking in a legal spot. And I can also understand the contempt for the Portland cop's licentiousness on the part of citizens who see him break the law they are demanded to follow. In his defense, I will say that we don't know his side of the story, and perhaps he was ordered to park closely for some reason at the time. I must agree that he chose the least desireable spot for encouraging citizen approval. it would **** me off too probably.
